We hosted a baby shower at the Alexander Blue House on February 4th, and it was fantastic. The staff was professional and courteous from booking through cleanup, and the pricing was very affordable. They have a huge parking lot and will work with you on the layout options. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for an event venue.

I was married here at Newburgh Church and the ladies were very helpful! It was a blizzard and one of them was out there shoveling the steps and the walkway for my guests. My only complaint is the director, Chris that we scheduled the wedding with. I called to asked if we could place flowers and photos the night before at rehearsal, so we were not so stressed the day of to decorate. He absolutely refused to let us do so. I could understand if there was an event after ours, but there was not and he was adamant that we could only do it at our paid alloted time...it takes nothing to go the extra mile. We could have paid and gone anywhere else to be married, but we chose to support our local historical park. They are pretty strict here given it is a historical church, so just be conscious of that. But, Chris not letting us put flowers out the night before was pretty ridiculous. Everyone else was fantastic and made our day special!

If you are looking for a very well kept historical chapel to get married in I would recommend greenmeads. They also have workers there that will walk you through on how a typical wedding is performed during your rehearsal which was alot of help for us. Overall it was very clean with friendly staff and all of my guests loved the stained glass and feel of it.

The Sunday tour that I attended was okay. The docents are certainly not well-versed in the history of the individual buildings. Docents in different buildings will tell you conflicting stories and timelines. I assume the only correct information I received came from those docents that religiously referred to their physical handbooks when I asked a question -- those that spoke from memory were useless. But if you just enjoy looking at old buildings, it's easy to look past that failing and just enjoy the walk around. The open buildings included: Simmons/Hill house (both first and second floor), Farmhand's house (first floor only), Kingsley house (first floor only), Shaw house (first floor only), Newburg school, Newburg church (first floor only), A.J. Geer Store (which has some bottled water and soda for sale, some resale items like antiques for sale, and Greenmead-branded bags for sale), and the DUR station (train station). The Hinbern House is likewise open, but is first floor only and set up as a gift shop. The gift shop is also where you'll purchase your tickets for the tour ($3 per person) and receive your admission sticker that you'll wear so that docents know you're a part of the tour groups. The tour is self-led from one building to another, but the docents do lead you through each building. The Bungalow home was closed the day I attended, but it is regularly open. The following are not included in the tour: the caretaker's house, the north and south barns, the "blue office" (garage), the meeting house (which is available for rent for private events), the old schoolhouse that doesn't have a sign and is currently cordoned off and in disrepair, the "blue house" (the grand house that they hold events in), and the parsonage for the church. No photography is allowed within the buildings. Main parking is off Newburgh Road, just south of 8 Mile Rd, in front of the grand "blue house" (which is tan lol), but there is parking available elsewhere in the park. The vast majority of the buildings are not handicap accessible.

Like to come here in the morning to walk with the dog. It's a pleasant quiet place with both the historical village, a beautiful garden area in the summer and nice wooded trails. The view of the sunrise from the hill is also really nice. Four stars instead of five because I have no idea what the buildings open to the public are like or how it is when there's an event.

At Greenleaf Historical for the 173rd Saint Andrew's Highland Games. I was there with my Gordon Setter club. Very hot today! But the organizers gave us a nice shady spot along with the other scottish dogs. There is a cost to attend the games but we were guests. You can see highland dancing, heavy athletic contests, learn about your scottish ancestry and there is an area with games and crafts devoted to children

Volunteered at the Highland Games Ceilidh night. Such a good time. Added bonus of knowing they are raising money for benefit of others. Games are awesome as well. Great food, great music and beat of all great people.

What a beautiful place. We were there for the highland games. Fantastic lay out and very nice people. We stopped at ther greenmead gift shop and met 2 very nice people, and they gave us the run down of the place and some history of it. We will definitely be back.

We went to the huge flea market that was there and found a few things. My son and daughter-in-law are visiting from Texas and went with us and found a couple things. Had fun!

As always another great year at the Irish American festival. Grounds were well manicured. Tons of shade and anything you could want was available in plenty. Lines for beer moved at a great place, Irn Bru and crisps available as a treat.

What a cool area to visit. I attended the Motor City Irish Festival with a friend of mine. We were out and about for the day and made our way to the festival to watch a band he wanted to see. I've never heard of this festival before but we had a good time. There was a huge beer tent set up with a band and a few other tents for whiskey tasting and Irish dancing. We walked around to shop a little and enjoyed some food. Of course we had to try a burger, but the cornbeef sandwiches looked delicious. We had a great time and look forward to returning possibly next year.
