WORSE CRESIT UNION / BANK EVER!! This branch only has one atm machine that is out of order a lot. The call center out of Grand Rapids is terrible, always long hold times in excess of 20 mins. Went to make a payment on my zeal credit card and their customer service told me to call a number on the back of the credit card and then when I called the credit card people they directed me back to the zeal customer hotline with another 20+ min wait. Was out of town for business and could not go into a branch. Do yourself a favor and never open an account here. I stopped my direct deposit from coming here a few years ago due to the extremely long waits times for the their call center.

They keep you waiting on hold for up to an hour then give you an option to hold you'r place in line and get a call back. When you choose a call back they will not even let it ring 3 rings before hanging up and making you start over. I'm done trusting this horriable Credit Union handle my money or any part if financial security... Bad Very Bad

My mom's a member. We typically go to the location on middlebelt. She's had 10 new debit cards because their system constantly flags her account after EVERY attempt to use it and they don't know why. The only solution is to offer a new card!! It's frustrating. Closing account soon.

Literally the worst Credit Union ever. Every time I come to one of the credit unions, whether it's the one in southfield, or the one in livonia, I typically end up having an issue with withdrawing or depositing money into my account. This is mostly always the one in Southfield, on Southfield road by 10 mile road. The reps in the inside even admitted that it doesn't work. When I got my auto loan the lady that assisted me was extremely rude, she had a very nasty disposition, and she was extremely mean. She was extremely unprofessional, she got upset at me for the process of the auto loan when I had already submitted my documents and prior to coming in, and I had actually had an appointment to just come and get the check to pay the dealership to get the vehicle. Then, when I took out overdraft protection, I put the money back in my account, and when I wanted to confirm when was the next time I could be able to take out the overdraft protection, one of the reps (customer service number) told me that it was fine then, and without confirming to me whether I still wanted to take the money out, they just took it out my account, which caused me to go into charge off status when the money was withdrew WITHOUT my permission and under false information. If it was not for the fact that one of my relatives has sent me money, I would not have even called in, which results it in them telling me that my account was in charge of that is. I was literally told after waiting on the phone for over 30 minutes, that it was in fact the previous reps fault, and as a courtesy they would fix the issue, and then it was fixed. Just to go to the branch almost 3 weeks later and to be told that my account was still in charge off status even though I had already given them back the money, and I was never notified that it was anything other what I was told over the phone. Instead of letting me know quickly what the issue was, I had to wait for 15 minutes when I tried to take out money from my savings account, which is extremely unprofessional. Then I was told, that I had to wait for the manager after I had sat there and waited for 25 minutes. When I came back to the branch after completing some work, the manager had an attitude with me, just told me that is nothing they can do about it, and basically it was my fault. Was told I wasn't told the issue was resolved when I called in weeks ago, but no one ever pulled up the exact call where it would be recorded of what exactly was said, I was just told hearsay. Literally the worst experience I've had with a bank in my life, and the fact that Zeal continues to hire employees like this says a lot about the company. Also, I just found out that this Credit Union has an F rating on Better Business Bureau, which sounds about right. No wonder they're not accredited.

It’s a good bank and have been with them for years but my god it makes me want to leave them just so that I can actually talk to someone on the phone at the actual bank. How do individual banks In different cities not have an actual phone number as well as a 1800 number. No matter what you wait on hold for over an hour or wait for them to call you back which takes over an hour no matter what. It’s so frustrating and love to see I’m not the only one in these reviews.

Zeal is not a great credit union, I am looking for a different one now. I have spend 1 hour on hold 3 different times., the atm is often down. I do like the people who work inside, but it’s just less credit union, more big bank who don’t care.

I have been a member of the credit union for over 30 years. When it came time to renew my home equity line of credit, it took over 4 months and after all that, I was turned down. The process was very unorganized.

Can not say enough about how incredible Liz Hoffman!! Seamless process buying my boat, was having issues dealing with a totalled vehicle financed through zeal, one email to Liz and everything is taken care of within 24 hours! Absolutely incredible customer service, highly highly recommended for any of your loan needs! No one better in the business! Thank you for everything you do Liz!! It is appreciated!!!!

Update: October 14, 2023No SURPRISE the ATM is DOWN again. Smh. I only stop at this location because it is close to my home and work. I really hate going out my way 10 miles to the other one. Terrible and disgusting.This Credit Union is TERRIBLE I wish I could rate it a -O because rating a 1 is privileged. Over the past month I have been coming here because this location is near my job and I don’t care what time it is or what day of the week the ATM is NEVER in service and I mean NEVER. This is such an inconvenience when it’s after they have closed and you can’t go into the lobby. This past week I went 3x and to my surprise it was not working. Im over it. I won’t waste my time no more Coming to this one. Then in a pinch and hurry I’m forced to use an out of network ATM and get charged $4.50 on top of the other teller’s ATM fee at the end of the month. Well if your ATM worked I wouldn’t have to use another one. Im losing time and money. Smh.

I am 1 star the Westland location as they are horrible and take 4ever everything you go there. As for the Newburgh location as fast and courteous service and they would get a 5 star from me!!

walked in to Zeal Westland and noticed money in bags sitting in lobby. Also only one teller working. I walked out immediately for my safety. people are crazy today and a robbery could have happened and I didn't feel safe. I also didn't think the employees are safe due to the setup in lobby. they have no protection.

On more than 4 occasions I came to use the ATM and it's NEVER working. what a huge inconvenience. I mean it was a Friday morning, Friday afternoon, and Saturday afternoon. when do you derive your ATM? I only chose this location because of location.

I have no issues with the members, they’ve all been nice in my experience. The main issue is that it takes way too long to add money back into my credit card after payments.

If I could give it a zero star I would. This is the worst credit union in Michigan. I have been working on getting a home equity loan from them since March. Had to send in two applications and they finally denied me in august for excessive obligation in relation to income (I have 1 full time job, apparently that was too much for them to handle) and length of time account have been established (over the last 5 months I’ve been emailing them every two weeks asking what is my application status. Don’t even try calling the loan department. I tried for weeks on end and they just ask for you to leave a message which they will never respond to due to the whole office being on ‘vacation’. How do they expect for the CU to run of literally everyone is on vacation at the same time… for 5 freaking months!?!?! If you want a trust worthy RELIABLE CU go to anyone but this one. I’m saving you a half of year of your life with this one. And for anyone who is in the same shoes as me I am so sorry, don’t continue to bother these people even if you think the interest rate is a slamming deal. It’s not worth your time, you deserve better than this.
