Not a single person on the beach in January. Very cool walking the beach in the winter.

Wow! Nice, and clean Northern Lake Michigan beach. Stopped there during our Wester MI roadtrip in 2022, on our way from Holland to Traverse City, the entire family had lots of fun.

Love this place, I've never got the chance to camp here but I have spent some days here. Love the hiking here. Beautiful scenery. Family-friendly trails. They have kayaks to rent at the main part of the park.

Love this place ANY time of the year! Today was foggy, windy with drizzle. Still, 60°, though. While most services in the park are closed up for the winter, I’m okay with it. Fewer people and more parking. Since Lake Michigan was choppy, I went for a walk through the sand hills. (Not recommended if your heart isn’t as good as… you know). Anyway, I’m not done yet. But I’m inspired!

Like all Michigan State Parks this one did not disappoint. The issue we had is the gate worker did not give us a map to our campsite. My husband was not aware there are 3 different campgrounds. Then the map they gave us needed to be updated. It look like it had been copied over 100 times. Plus they were all out of there trail maps. Other than that is was a great park lots to see and do. Campsites are tight not a lot room for big rigs tight turns.

Gorgeous views. The lighthouse trail is easy but 1.5 miles each way. The trek through the dunes is another at least 1.5 miles in the sand. Some other trails, like the island trails etc, are much better for hiking. Very popular place! Get there early! They rent kayaks! Tons of fun in the lost lake area. We will return for more hiking.

Hiked 1.8 miles to see the lighthouse (even though there were cars driving the trail), luckily we saw a scene from Jurassic Park on the way. Highly recommend riding a bicycle for the trail to the lighthouse. It was strange walking through the camping area to get to the trail to start the hike. Thankfully everyone was cooking delicious smelling breakfasts! All in all, we were smiles at the end and had a great hike!

Great place but there are so so so many rules. Even had a rule violation notice on our windshield (on the second night at 10:30) that our tent wasn’t inside our campsite boundary????? It was literally the only flat spot and within 12 feet of the fire pit. Why not talk to us if it was really a problem. Elsewhere rules of all sorts are posted everywhere. Not like other state parks in Michigan.

Georgous Beach! Small sand dunes along the scenic road that you can park on and make your way down to the sandy beach. Very seclusive feel not far from the City of Ludington.
