The service here was impeccable. It was very recently purchased by new owners I was told so older reviews may be less relevant now.

Got the room last minute before a marathon nearby. Was able to book it same day as one of the cheapest rooms in the area. Has a bit of a musty smell but bathroom was clean and room was clean overall. Needs some repairs here and there and the bathtub drain is slow (room 115). AC worked and had a small coffee maker, microwave, and tv. Did the job. The front desk gal was nice and accommodating to my request for some breakfast food the night before since I'd be leaving at 5 am before breakfast is served. Serviceable motor inn for anyone needing a bed for the night at a budget price.

***PLz read***UPDATE ON 10/17/2024, to my surprise I came across this review I had supposedly wrote 4 years ago under my google account.
Sure it’s easy to forget a review you left 4 years ago but what’s even stranger is i have no recollection of this extremely unpleasant scenario described below?
Idk seems like a bad enough experience to remember.
It gets even more bizarre because I have never stayed (or planned on staying) at this particular hotel.
I know for a fact I’ve never attempted to stay here or “experienced that scenario” below bc I have never been to mackinaw island AND mackinaw city.
Or I have amnesia and am unaware. Think this was a paid fake review** please read below review as complete non fiction**. - Tiffany Asher
Do not stay here! I paid 174$ for one night. We got there at 10 pm tired. The room smelled moldy. The bathroom was a
Full of mold and black dirt on bottom of tub. The sheets and Comforter are so old and dirty with yellow stains. I asked for a refund. Because I didn’t even stay. The manager J’s rude and does not care. The pics and her comments to say it’s not like that is a lie. She must live in filth to think there is nothing wrong with the rooms there. So unprofessional.

arrived at 4:00 PM no body in the lobby to check people in, were notified rooms would not be ready until 5:00 PM would call did not receive a call until around 5:30 by then after long drive gave up and found a different place to stay. of course it was non refundable per the website. I would not recommend this place to anyone to stay at this hotel. obviously does not have the staff or enough people to clean the rooms. while driving away noticed that there were four people appeared to be cleaning on room or were to busy talking.

When we first arrived our room was right above the front desk area and the smell of food cooking was almost nauseating, so we asked to switch rooms. The lady at the front desk area was very nice and accommodating and switched us. Our new room was clean, but the peeling wallpaper, outlets that didn’t work, and a shower that wouldn’t work was frustrating. The TV is also in an awkward place and you had to sit in some old chairs at a table to watch it. At checkout when my husband tried to tell the manager that the shower wasn’t working he tried to argue it was and that we had to “pull hard” on the shower nozzle. If my husband would have pulled any harder he would have pulled it right off the wall. Not a great experience.

If I could give this Knights Inn “Hotel” a negative star rating I would. We arrived late at night after driving a very long distance and all we wanted to do was get some sleep before going to Mackinaw Island for the rest of our stay in the area. We knew this was a budget hotel and that we couldn’t expect it to be the nicest place ever. After reading many reviews, I thought the smell and outdated look would be the worst of our concerns. Unfortunately, this was not true at all. When we pulled back the sheets on the bed to go to sleep, there was POOP ON THE BED. This wasn’t just a stain, there was literally poop. The front desk wasn’t open, so I called the number on the website. The lady hung up on me the first time I called. I kept calling and she finally picked up and let me explain that we needed new sheets. She came to our room without clean sheets and told us that she could move us to a new room. We told her that we don’t think they ever change the sheets and that even if we move to a new room, we would want clean sheets to change ourselves. She didn’t seem to have any clean sheets for us. Luckily, she did call her sister hotel and had us stay there instead. That place was also pretty gross, but at least there was no poop in the bed. I had never been so horrified of a hotel in my life. DO NOT EVER stay at this Knights Inn Hotel unless you want to be traumatized.

Four night stay to go back and forth to Mackinac Island. Will not stay here again on any of our annual trips. Room was never serviced, office staff dismissive and the housekeeper slammed the fridge door into my daughter while she was trying to carry cereal with milk, acted like she was in her way because she had to cut my daughter off to check the milk level in an obviously full milk jug.
WiFi is non existent

This is a detailed account of our disappointing experience at the Knights Inn Mackinaw City. Our room was confirmed for July 26th. On July 26th, at 7:21 pm, the hotel called us to confirm we were still arriving. At 9:51 pm, we called the hotel to update our 10:30 pm eta.
After a 12-hour journey, we arrived at the hotel to find out that our confirmed room had been given away to another family with the same last name. Despite the clerk admitting that he did not check their ID, he woke up the family (without our knowledge) in the room that should have been ours, telling them they had to leave, but they did not move. I personally thought this was insane to ask them to move and confirmed we needed to find an alternative. We were then offered a deluxe suite with a king bed at a discount, which we accepted (even though we knew we would all not get bed space) due to our desperation for a bed and a shower after the long journey. However, we were surprised to find an open shower and jacuzzi in the room, providing zero privacy. To add to our discomfort, my son got locked in the single toilet for 5 minutes. The next morning, I expressed our disappointment to the check-in clerk, that he did not inform us of the open jacuzzi/ shower and he responded, “I know”. I requested a credit for our room. I was told to speak with the manager who would be in later that day. My several attempts to reach her through out the week were in vain. Despite numerous promises and complete run around, there were no return calls. I called again on August 1st and finally spoke with the manager. She offered a free night which was unreasonable. She said she needed to speak with the owner and would call back that same day. It is now 10 days later and no return call.
Overall, the customer service and management at this hotel are horrendous, and it's clear that they do not prioritize the needs and expectations of their customers.

First of all I would rate the motel a 0. My husband and I all ready pre- pay for the room and could not get into the room intill 3pm seems a little late to into a room but we’re going to in 116. So we had are dog with us and I had her in a stroller so want to stand by the door and wait for my husband and when turned around with the stroller my tennis shoe hit this 70’s thick rubber snow mat and fell right I my back. My husband ran out to see if I was all right I was ok I was ok but when he went back in to get the keys they asked if I was drunk he said No she don’t drink. Then when he got the keys we had to move to room 119 so when we got to the room which the open wasn’t bad but when you closed the door the room smelled like mold, dog piss, stale beer, then when you want to turn on TV Yeah it worked for about 10 mins and the it would go a screen said No signal we tried to reset it and that didn’t work either. So the kid that worked there (the son) he was only one knew how to speak English tried to fix the TV got it fixed but once again it did it again with the screen saying NO signal. So we went out for the night for dinner and watch the fireworks when we got back about 11:30 my husbands keys didn’t work likely my worked. WORST PLACE EVER

I want to start by saying the people here were great, super nice. However, the state of the rooms was not nice. We walked in and immediately were take back by a humid room that had a musty smell. After that we searched the bed for bed bugs (normal for us) and found nothing. However, there was a huge stain on the sheets, after that I killed a spider on the wall. Eventually my partner and I decided to book somewhere else as I didn’t feel like sleeping on the bed. We left about 30 min after checking in and drove to Petoskey for the next open hotel. It was very unfortunate and I probably should have read the reviews before I booked lol. I do not recommend, not even if you’re on a budget. We did not attempt to get a refund as I don’t think we would’ve gotten one, so we just left and ate the cost.

Not too bad, it’s clean, nice and quiet and gets you through the night. But, expensive. We had to pay more than double what it was on the website. The room is small and very humid and has a strange smell. But they had towels and anything that you may need. If you have the option bring a pillow or blanket from home since it’s pretty run down.
