We had AAA for 3 years. We just recently moved and set up a new policy with AAA for our home, continued our auto policy. Pricing has been great, but customer service is awful. We received a letter after 2 months of living in the home stating that the new house would no longer be covered because of the condition of the roof. Very conflicting with the information from our home inspector who stated the roof had at least 6-10 years of life left. I also had a roofer come out and he stated the roof was in good condition. While I understand this is a decision from underwriting and not the agency, I reached out immediately to remediate the situation and received incredibly poor customer service as well as false information. We were told by our agent, Josh Barker, after repeatedly contacting him, that our policy would not be canceled but would have new deductible terms. I wasn’t excited about this decision, but it at least would have bought us time to look for a new policy. Josh ensured us several times that he would work it out and the policy would not be canceled, so I mistakenly trusted him and did not search for a new policy. He even went as far to tell us that he would be concerned no other insurance company would insure our home because of the roof. A short time later, I received a check in the mail for the policy cancellation. When I reached out to the agency regarding this, I was sent to voicemail, left a voicemail and never received a call back, sent several emails, no response. I called the office again, spoke with josh who said he’d get back to me by end of day, never called back. When I followed up with another email I was told he didn’t call back or respond because he had no further information. Great, I understand there’s only so much an agent can do, but client communication is key. Even if you have no information, calling me back like you said you would and telling me you have nothing to offer is better than leaving me confused In limbo. This was a problem the entire time. I was basically told it’s not my fault, go find a new policy. Which is fabulous after nearly 1.5 months of telling me he had it taken care of.
Honestly, if I was just told from the jump of the issue, we are sorry we can no longer cover you, take this month and search for a new policy, I would have felt less stressed this entire time, less frustrated, and much less disappointed with this company. I think this agency could benefit from simply responding to their clients calls and emails, letting them know they are heard, rather than simply ignoring them.
We have since switched to State Farm which has comparable pricing for us and has already passed the underwriters inspection. According to our State Farm agent, they are usually picky about roofs, so passing State Farm’s inspection and not AAA, while also having two other roofing specialists not having an issue with the condition is extremely conflicting.
Overall this experience was awful. I can’t tell you how frustrating and stressful this whole situation has been, and while it did not start because of the barker agency, it was exacerbated because of this agency.

Like a bad neighbor, AAA was not there a
few years ago. Never again for home insurance. Great for towing only. Everything else buyer beware and use someone else.

i’ve had an auto insurance policy with the barker agency for the last five years and a home policy with them for one. unlike most other insurance companies and agencies, i genuinely look forward to getting to talk to both Joshua and Joie. they’re both incredibly personable and consistently go above and beyond to help out AND ensure that i get the best possible rates and discounts. if you’re shopping for an agent, this is the one to go to. i’ve referred all of my friends and family to the barker agency and look forward to continuing my patronage with this agency!

the Barker agency is friendly, the rates are awesome for young drivers like me. they've never given me the runaround on prices and they're very to the point. I recommend them to anyone looking for lower rates!
