I’ve gotten a short hair exotic kitten through a backyard breeder. Long story short the lady sold me a kitten with a pronounced leg injury and lied about the severity of the condition of this kitten. When my kitten got to Michigan the kitten immediately showed issues with his leg injury, I was told by other (Clinics) that his leg would have to get amputated but I said absolutely not because his paw and toes still worked. Then I came here and doctor did everything he could to save his leg and reconstruct all bones together while Dr was in surgery in total of 4 hours for my baby and saved his leg and yes his leg grew healthy and functioning amazingly. Pictures below!!!

My first experience with this vet was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. On my way out I asked if they did health certificates for the UK and EU as I would be traveling in a few months. They assured me they did and would even print out the paperwork for me.The day of my appointment for the health certificates however was a nightmare. They asked me for the documents which thankfully I had printed and brought just in case and told me the the doctor would be back shortly. From the moment he entered the room he was aggravated and aggressive towards me. He ranted at me about how he's been doing this for 40 years and he's never been asked to give an animal a medication for an illness it doesn't have and how he's done this paperwork for animals going to xyz county and this has never been a requirement. When I tried to point out that it was stated in the documents I provided him and that I had emailed the USDA about it for clarification, he came back at me about how I should have made sure I got the name of the person I was corresponding with via email and how he would have called the UK because you "can't trust our government these days" and that "Biden lies to us every day". He continued to be combative and argue with me about the requirements and tried insisteing that my dog needed testing that I knew he didn't. He griped about the "30 pages" of paperwork and couldn't grasp that it was two separate health certificates. He was also very concerned about his liability which doesn't make any sense as everything must be endorsed by the USDA prior to traveling and they ask you to make corrections etc if necessary. He finally settled down a bit and agreed to do what was required but was then confused when I told him I needed him to fill out and sign the documents. All of this was punctuated by him frequently leaving the room for long spans of time, forcing me to wait while he tried to figure out what to do. It became painfully obvious he had no idea what the standards were or what the course of action was so I asked if he was even certified with the USDA. After having to leave the room once again to ask his associate and make some calls, turns out he wasn't. And hadn't been since 2015. Which he thought was 5 years ago. After this was revealed he said he would not charge me for any part of the vist. After another trip out of the room he decided he was going to charge me for the tapeworm shot because he believed it would be fine for my paperwork. It was not, as it needs to be administered by a USDA certified vet. So because of his lie and negligence my dog had to get double dosed and a shot for no reason. The paperwork is no doubt convoluted and a bit overwhelming however the attitude that was directed at me was entirely unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. I know it can be embarrassing for some people when they realize they're uninformed or confused but that's no excuse for throwing a temper tantrum and treating someone poorly. Especially in a place of business. I wasted almost 3 hours, 50$ (half of the cost it ended up being to get the certificates actually taken care of), the huge cost of rescheduling my flight, and was yelled at because this man lied about being able to provide a service he was not certified to do. On top of it there was no apology for his behavior, how long I was there, or not being able to do the certificates. He even had the audacity to ask me to let him know how it went so he would know for the future. The only good thing he did was call around and get me an appointment with Laursen Veterinary Service who were incredibly kind, helpful, understanding and actually able to do the certificates, all in an hour and a half. *edit* I was refunded the 50$ for the shot after calling and asking for one.

I took my 8yr old dachshund here for dental issues and I couldn’t have asked for better care for my girl. She had to stay over night for a procedure and after the initial visit, I was very confident that she was in great hands. Waiting times can be a little lengthy, but it’s worth the care and knowledge that Dr. Ferstl provides for his patients! The entire staff is friendly and informative. I will be taking all of my animals here going forward, for it’s hard to find such a trustworthy and reasonable veterinarian as himself. Maggie and I thank you all for the tremendous care and hard work you do. We will be seeing you again :)

The vet saved my cats life. It was fourth of July weekend and I couldn't find anyone who would see him. I call Ferstl's and even though they were only a few minute to close they asked me how soon could I get there. I was a wreck when we got there and in the end he was saved! I thank this clinic everyday for another day with my fur-babie!.

We brought are dog there after she ended up with happy tail. Even though we had to wait a long time it was worth it (we were also walk ins). He gave us all of are options and we ended up going with a tail amputation which was the best decision. He did an amazing job on her tail. Also my dog has been losing weight and he was able to help with that as well. I am going to be bringing my dogs here from now on.

Dr Ferstl saved our cat from various health issues multiple times. He did all he could, sometimes even after hours, to help our family out. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our 4-legged friend recently as he reached a point where there was no quality of life left, and his office was an important part of making that process easier to deal with. We will take our furry family members to Dr Ferstl for as long as he is in business. RIP Paws

SO thankful for this veterinarian & staff. Was my first time coming here & will proceed to bring all of my animals here now. I wasted so much money at a previous vet & as soon as the X-rays were sent over he immediately realized it was cancer & provided after hours emergency surgery that saved my dogs life even though I've never been a client of his and kept me updated throughout.

Worst experience ever! This vet euthanized my cat. Took over an hour and he gave her shots in her heart! It was barbaric and I should have been warned. Plus I was told they would gas her before starting as she was not friendly. Never will go here again.

We just moved to the area and hadn’t found a vet yet for our pets yet. I tried Great Lakes Vet in Saginaw, and they refused to care for my dog that was hit by a car. So I was grateful, a friend recommended this practice. Such wonderful care. They stayed open late on a Friday to admit him for his severe injuries. I can tell they truly care for animals and their owners. Will recommend this practice to everyone.

I drive forty miles to bring my fur babies to Dr. Ferstyl and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Fabulous staff and compassionate care. Highly recommended and worth the extra miles!
