“Headed up north? Look no further than Shayne's Place Motel & Cabins, it will surely change your life. Don't be fooled by the old reviews... The Mio Songbird (now Shayne's Place) is under new ownership. Located in downtown Mio, Shayne's Place is the perfect spot to launch your adventures in one of Michigan's most beautiful and scenic areas. At Shayne's Place, you are a stone's throw from the supermarket, outfitter, saloon, and Au Sable River, a nationally recognized waterway and arguably the best river to fish and canoe in the entire Midwest. My family and I were fortunate enough to stay in Cabin #14, which was absolutely perfect. This little cabin was clean, cozy, and fully equipped with a tiny loft, kitchenette, queen bed, full bath with shower/tub, smart TV, and MORE! Additionally, my family and I spent a healthy amount of time outside; grilling food, tossing the football around, and tending the fire. The owners, Karrie and Lance, have plenty of fun activities to keep you and your family entertained. They are the best, most accommodating hosts one could ask for. We will continue supporting this small business for years to come. Thank you!
Rooms: Motel rooms and private cabins.
Nearby activities: Situated in the Huron National Forest, next to the Au Sable River, Mio offers a variety of recreational activities such as: camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, hunting, trail riding, berry picking, bird watching, and much more.
Safety: Shayne's Place is located across the street from the Oscoda County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police outpost.
Walkability: Within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and recreational opportunities.”
