The Humane Society of Monroe County (HSMC), founded in 1954, is dedicated to the welfare of companion animals in the community. This non-profit, no-kill organization provides shelter, food, medical care, and love to stray, abandoned, or surrendered animals until they find permanent homes. HSMC is run by a volunteer board and supported by fundraising events, memberships, donations, and adoptions. Reviews highlight the compassionate staff, with particular praise for a staff member known for her kindness and dedication to animal care. Many visitors appreciate the friendly environment, noting that the facilities are well-maintained and welcoming. Volunteers and staff are described as loving and committed, making it a great place for both animals and people. However, there have been instances of less-than-positive experiences, with some individuals reporting rude interactions. Despite this, many recommend HSMC for those looking to adopt a pet, emphasizing the quality of care provided to the animals and the opportunity to meet a new best friend. Overall, the Humane Society of Monroe County is recognized for its important mission and the loving atmosphere it creates for animals and potential adopters alike.

Nice, clean premises. Friendly manager and staff. They can always use dog and cat food and have an Amazon Wish list. Donations are welcome also. They are in the planning stages of an attached cat facility which will give them more room to quarantine incoming dogs. We are happy to support.
