We had a blast! The tour was sold out and every seat was taken which was promising!
The captain knew how to handle the crowd properly, checked for safety measures, provided information about the area, and really knew how to maneuver the boat!
It was super fun and the captain got a big round of applause at the end of the tour!

This is my 2nd ride with Riptide. Had so much fun last yr w/my sis, had to come back with my husband and also a neighbor. We had a BLAST! I think we had a few more twists and turns than last year's ride, so IT WAS AWESOME!! Keep those in and add MORE, I say LOL. You'll also get to see cool cliffs, eagles, falcons, waterfalls, lighthouses and more! Young and old on our boat and everyone was having a great time. Captain Tim is the BEST :D Get there early if you want certain seats - but it doesn't really matter bc all the seats have great views and you're gonna get wet no matter what :D. Sending our boys and their friends in a couple of weeks - I might just go back too LOL

We heard of this as a recommendation on our way to the area. Booked day of on the website. Our captain Tim was excellent from the moment our trip began. The ride was exhilarating while still being approachable for most ages. Tim knew the ship and the shoreline of Lake Superior like the back of his hand. We left seeing and knowing more then we could have hoped to and will be recommending to everyone else know!

We did Riptide Ride for our second time on 7/16/24. Like the first time we did it we had a great time. Everything is very smooth running and explained very well. Our captain did a great job narrating and always turns the boat so each side can get pictures. Overall just a very fun 1.5 hour trip to do.

What a great experience!! Action packed, and beautiful sites. We got pretty wet, but it was worth it. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a pictured rocks tour. This isn't the slow paced one that goes along the national park shoreline, however Grand Island is gorgeous and the views are just as spectacular. If you're thinking about doing this tour, and don't mind getting a little wet, and experiencing some thrills, you should do this.

An absolute must! It's a true rarity to have this kind of authentic experience now days on vacation. We enjoyed this more than I can describe here. The guide was local, knowledgeable and professional. The ride had the perfect balance between fun and excitement to site seeing and respect for nature. We felt like family as he took us to all the beautiful places and gave us a trill ride too. We also loved how there was music at appropriate times and no music (thankfully) at other times.

This was so much fun! We went on a beautiful hot sunny day. We had 4 people in our group. 2 adults and 2 teens. Get there early so you get good seats. The guide was super! We had two adults in 1st row and kids were behind us. We seen eagles and beautiful sights! We had so much fun on the boat. Twists and turns. We were soaked and laughing non stop. Was totally worth it!

Where do I start. We ordered our tickets online and got in line about 30 minutes beforehand so our group could sit together. Our driver was Tim who was great. Gave us the usual info you need to know. We have read other reviews so we knew there was a chance you’d get wet. Just to clarify, there’s not a chance, you definitely will get wet. On our boat those on the left got wet more often but there were some older folks on the right and I think Tim was being considerate of them. The tour was very nice with lots of close ups of the rocks and several bald Eagle sightings. Our group had so much fun and that includes teens that said it was awesome. I highly recommend this if you are in Munising and want a fun time.

Second time going but this time we brought the kids. Great time and the kids loved it as did we again. Dress warm! It can be pretty chilly on overcast days under 75 degrees.

Stopped here on a whim as we had some time to kill before we checked into our campsite. Very glad we did, this is now a highlight of our trip in the UP. Just take the time to do this ride. You won’t regret it.

Awesome MUST DO while in Munising. This charter takes you so far in two hours. Do the 7pm. Golden hour delight. Our captain has so much passion for the area and made the experience so much better. We passed all the slower tour boats on the way ? Super fun high speed maneuvers but they still get you up close to the good stuff. And they make sure both sides of the boat get up-close views. My takeaway is the grand island rocks are more impressive than the shoreline pictured rocks. 5 star.

Not what I expected but due to my own not reading or understanding of the area. I thought the trip included a ride around Grand Island as well as Picture Rock (national seashore). But the tour is only for thr picture rocks 'around' grand island. But I'm not reducing a star for that.
Other than that it was a very fun trip. Lot of great information, friendly staff, could clearly hear the information being shared. It was much colder than I expected, bring a sweatshirt at minimum. Also recommend footwear that can get wet as that is the highest likelihood of where water will be during the ride. If you think you'll be cold I suggest against hoodies as they basically become head kites at speed. A knit beanie is probably a better option.
The boat is able to get up/in/under many of the formations. Pretty incredible really.

Riptide was a ton of fun! Be aware you will probably get wet, and when they tell you to "hold on" you better listen because that 40ft jet boat is about to make a 90° turn at speed whether you like it or not. The captain knows his vessel extremely well though and will take you in nice and close. Great time and well worth the money!

This was an amazing experience! I definitely suggest everyone do this at least once in their lifetime. Our tour guide was awesome! I don't remember his name but he had a lot of fun with the boat and the turns! So much fun!
