Have used River Valley vet for over 20 years. Very pragmatic doesn't order unnecessary tests or procedures. Gives good information and let's client make their own decision based on facts. My previous vet was judgmental because my dogs are show dogs so cannot be spayed or neutered to be able to show. Have always had good results. They do large animals so during foaling season are busy away from the clinic. Never had a problem.

I am upset at the situation. I called to get my Cat Churro into the vet, he had been throwing up and not eating for 2 days. I called on a Thursday and they could only get him in 4 days later on Monday. Well on Sunday Churro needed to be rushed to an emergency vet clinic where he later died. I called early Monday morning, and explained that I no longer needed the appointment set on Monday at 2:45pm. The woman on the phone didn’t even offer me a Sorry for my loss or anything. Like it was an inconvenience for her to take my call. Maybe it was a bad day for her and she wasn’t at her best. But that is enough for me to warrant a 2 star and I don’t think we will use this vet in the future.

Their head vet surgeon, Dr. Loren Brandt, had his license suspended by Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in May 2021 for having 10 animal carcasses (5 dogs, 4 cats, and a horse) unburied on his personal property. The smell alerted locals and he was giving misdemeanor charges and fines for improperly burying animals. THIS WAS THE VET WHO DID A SIMPLE SPAYING ON MY CAT, and my CAT DIED!!! Because it is so cliche, I rarely say it, but...W T F!!!! In 2010 The Niles Township Fire Department asked him to stop burning a horse carcass because of noxious fumes, but he resumed burning the deceased animal the next day. Loren Brandt is NOT a good guy. That veterinarian should NOT be practicing! They have a receptionist who 3 out of 3 times I called makes you hold 100% of the time you call. What's the point of having a receptionist if they never answer your calls?

For 2 months I have called to speak to the vet that never seems to be available. I can't get my dogs meds. Then today I found out the have no license because it's suspended. I have a feeling that the vet hasn't even been there and some tech was the one that saw my dog and gave him his shots and treated his ear infection. I had to make an appointment with a new vet because they won't even respond to 1-800 pet meds. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR PET JUST YOUR CREDIT CARD.

Do yourself a favor and don't take your pets there. I've been taking my dog and cat for years and today I finally had it. The pandemic has nothing to do with staff shortages. It has always been that way you can never get an appointment you always ha e to wait 6-8 weeks. I just dropped off a urine sample for my dog to see if she has a urine infection they told my it would be 48 dollars and if it was positive they don't have any appointments you guessed it for 8 weeks. I asked the tech how she would like to have a infection and wait that long I also told her it's not her fault. I told them to print my recordS and finding another vet. I didn't even want to leave one star

Worthless vet took my dog there they tossed him in a cage for 5 hours never called me to let me know what was going on finally I called them at 4:45 and they said they gave him something to stop him from vomiting. And they didn't know what was wrong with him. Took him home and to a different vet the next day and he had heart failure, liver failure, lung cancer,And if river valley would have gave him fluids he would of stood a chance to fight off the cancer and heart failure. with meds. Basically don't take your pet there. They don't care about them there just there to make money. And toss your friend in a cage for hours.

It is clean, and have many people there. The people who run the clinic are nice people.
