Went all the way there because they said they were open till noon. Got there at 11:30 and they were closed even though there was a Open signage on door. Don’t waste peoples time. If you’re closed just say so

Had a Sales Rep out to give me a estimate on replacing front door. I was quoted 7100.00. I put the model number and manufacture name and did a search. Lowes price 600.00 for exact same door of course not including labor. When i ask for clarification all she could tell me is that is below our cost. I would not waste my time even calling them for a quote on anything complete waste of time. I gave two star just because they came to my house.

Leaving this review as a shout out to Shane one of the many delivery drivers. he’s gone above and beyond giving me a heads up when my delivery was leaving and the eta when he’ll be there, even confirmed the address. Thank you Shane and thank you Northville for the continued business and hospitality

The guys at the desk & in the yard are busting their tails - and they get it done! As a contractor I appreciate being able to get informed, accurate and complete orders together for my jobs from this old-school yard and at a better value than the big box stores!! -Definitely my go-to!

Purchased a whole brand new deck worth of material and now they are hassling us for two discolored boards (see pic) that THEY shipped to us and now making us go through Trex to handle it. How nice.

Northville Lumber is a busy lumber store with straight wood and few blemished, great decking material and quality hardware. The price is competitive and the guys at the counter really know their stuff. No wonder a lot of contractors go here for their projects. It's also perfect for you DIY-ers just like me. If you need assistance with your project, they can certainly help! Like they say, "buy small", you'll be happy you did.

I went to purchase a small piece of wood . 20"x42" birch or maple or oak or poplar.....enough to build a wood cover around an Kenwood music receiver , 16x17x4. As I arrived there were 4 employees siting at chairs , 2 chatting with other, and 2 at computers. Another worker roaming on a phone....It was 1:15 pm. They quoted me $130 for a 4'x8' sheet.....I was shocked. They said they couldn't sell me a scrap , cause they don't like to do that. They allowed me to go in the back with a worker to check out their product. Of course there were suitable scrap pieces around that would satisfy my needs. We brought up a Pine piece that was my size, more or less. The guy at the computer measured it and charged me full price $45 for the piece. I expected a better break, but this place didn't seem to like the cut of my Gib....I'll never recommend or go back to Northville lumber. They will rip you off, if they can....got the same scrap at HD for $20.

As a builder I love Northville Lumber, especially when purchasing Hardie Board and Azek boards. Leonard will go the extra mile, and Stew the owner is great and will search heaven and hell to find me what I need. Very glad I changed vendors for my lumber packs.

I wanted to replace decking and needed help with design and calculations. These guys (Steve Brown) at NL are absolutely the best. From the customer service guys to the yard team. Anyone rating these guys low is probably someone we would prefer not to deal with anyway. My experience was exceptional so much I did not price shop. NL earned my business today and long into the future.

I'll echo a lot of the other comments on here about poor customer service. I had my door guy contact NL to build a custom French door for the renovation of our 1915 house in Detroit. I don't know if it was the same "oh God, Detroit" attitude that a lot of suburban businesses have, or the fact that we needed something custom (as opposed to cookie cutter suburban construction) or what. According to my door guy, the staff at NL acted super put out the entire time. They seemed frustrated and unwilling to look at the drawings that my door guy had prepared showing exactly what we needed. Took them a week to get back with a high-level quote, and the pricing was not competitive. Ended up going to Public Lumber on 7-mile *in* Detroit. Much better customer service and better quality for less $$$.

My brother-in-law hired them to do their windows and he liked the work they did. As my wife and I needed new windows for our home, I contacted them but also shopped around to see what offers I'd get. Right from the get go things were odd. When we made our first contact with them they put us on a list and said they'd get back to us in two weeks. By comparison - every other competitor was able to speak with us right away and send someone out within a week - one even came from Ohio! However, given my relative's experience we decided to wait the two weeks. Those two weeks came and went. Then another week and then another! Finally, I decided to call them back and see if we could get someone out. When I inquired about our position in line - I was asked point blank "Has it been fourteen business days????" No apologies about the wait - just a straight accusation. Not good! (FWIW: Here's how I would've answered that call: "I'm so sorry you've had to wait so long. Let me get your name and look you up in the system. *....continue conversation in a professional and friendly manner and inform the customer that either it hasn't been two business weeks or that it has and respond appropriately*At this point it was early to mid April and I said I didn't know the exact date but that it was in mid March. I was told someone would call in the next few days. Fortunately someone did and we got them out to check out the windows and get an idea of the work. We were told they wouldn't be able to do the work until August which was fine with us as that's the way it is for everyone right now. But we were also promised a quote no later than Wednesday of the next week. The next week came then we waited Monday....Tuesday....Wednesday...Thursday....and so I called them back. On this call it was a different gentleman who was more courteous. As we had the business card of the person that came out to do the work he recommended we call and leave a message on his cell. I took the advice and called the guy that came out, only to discover that his voicemail box hadn't been setup. Now here we are on the following week and still no quote. I can't help but feel disappointed. I love supporting local businesses - especially when someone I trust had a good experience with them. But at this point I feel I've given them more than a fair shake to win my business. At this point I'm done. We decided to go with a competitor. But at this point - even if they were to try to win our business - with all these communication breakdowns I don't think I'd trust them to do the job when they say they would. If you, dear reader, decide to go with them I hope you have better luck than what we had.

This review is based on phone conversations because I decided to not work with them based on how things went.First I spoke with Joe and he was great! But then he sent me a form to fill out because new customers need to authorize, blah blah blah, in order to proceed.Ok, fine. Then I get the form. It requires my credit card information to be filled in, and pictures of the credit card (front and back) plus my driver's license.Oh, sure, this can be faxed over. But. I don't have a fax, meaning it would have to be eMailed, which is an unsecure method. So I called back and got another gentleman, who explained that this was because of fraud.Uh, ok? So I should set myself up to be a victim of fraud just so you can feel safe? That's not ok. It was kind of odd that he specifically used the phrase Mexican standoff when trying to resolve this, which I took as a joke or hyperbole. But then I called the contractor about the pricing and such, and he was aghast at the high costs. So I called Northville Lumber back, and got Steve this time. I asked if the contractor setup an account, would the prices be reduced? And we're done. Why? Because his answer was that these prices are what people are typically willing to pay.Typically. Willing. To. Pay.Dude. That's a well-known business euphemism for, "we overcharge until people complain."So here I am, complaining.
