I love just walking into this store. I always find wonderful items. I will definitely return for more wonderful western products.

A bit of Texas here at the Novi Town Center. We are this store chain while in Texas, but ended up checking it out in MI. Rows and rows of Cowboy and Cowgirl boots and Cowboy hats and Cowboy apparel. Big buckled belts caught my husband's eyes. There's no shortage of Cowboy gear here at all.

The store is beautiful and has tons of selection but be warned, they work off commission so youll be followed around for a sale. The guy we dealt with, Keegan (hate to use names but I wont go back and I'm hoping this will assist with some training) - started off solid but it got so cringe worthy and reeked of desperation we just wanted to get out of there immediately. He actually said to my husband, "cmon man, help me out, we work off commission" ...Yep, we could tell, but that's not how it's done. Once he realized he wasnt hitting a home run, he disappeared. We are a dual-income, no-kids family so spending was not at all the issue. There was zero customer service while checking out - the cashier would literally be rather doing ANYTHING else (yeah, us too) and then I see a receipt taped to the counter with a $1k total and a "Good job Shelby!" written on it. My secondhand embarassment alone at this point made me realize why we usually go to Scott Colburn. I'm all for celebrating wins (in private!), I worked in retail. However, this store is poorly managed and in dire need of sales and customer service training. As someone else mentioned, it was super obvious the employees were talking trash to each other about the customers, and probably us. Really disappointing. This store could do amazing in that spot if they whip their folks in shape. I truly hope they do, because if our experience is anything like the norm, it'll fail before it can even take off.

My husband and I swung by Boot Barn's new spot last Saturday, hoping to snag some cool and durable outerwear for our upcoming trip to the U.P.. We were looking forward to it, but sadly, the experience fell short.- The first impression wasn't all that welcoming. Throughout our visit, a staff member followed us closely, repeatedly asking if he could assist us, which felt a bit intrusive despite our polite declines.- While checking out the awesome boot collection and snapping a few pics (it was my first time seeing such an array of stunning western cowboy-style boots), we encountered an uncomfortable situation. This staff member seemed overly focused on us, particularly when I was taking photos, creating an awkward atmosphere. As I was capturing a shot, he sidled up and asked if I needed assistance again. When I politely declined and mentioned I was only looking around, the staff seemed displeased and stared at my phone screen. It felt uncomfortable, especially as other customers were also taking photos, and I was the only one approached. I felt a bit helpless as it seemed like he wasn't going to move away, just standing there and watching me. To avoid further awkwardness, I had to walk away from him. It made me wonder if our treatment was different due to our skin color, although I'm reluctant to jump to that conclusion.- When my husband tried on a Carhartt jacket, the same staff member immediately hovered nearby, almost scrutinizing the fitting. My husband tried on L and M but both went a little oversized. While we searched for a smaller size, we got an odd comment implying that the Carhartt brand wasn't suited for him and “it doesn’t fit you”. It caught us off guard. Initially, we assumed he was just trying to help, but when we couldn't find a smaller size and were told that Carhartt wasn't designed for us based on our body types, we were taken aback. It felt like we were being judged for not fitting a certain mold, contrary to Carhartt's inclusive values as stated on their official website. Carhartt's site lists they have all men’s clothes from Regular size S-5XL, Tall size M-4XL, and Carhartt also lists “a culture of inclusion” as their core value. I believe Carhartt is designed for everyone, with all skin colors, with all body shapes.- Towards the end of our visit, we noticed the same staff member chatting with two other colleagues near the entrance and it seemed like they were directing their attention towards us. The reason why I felt this is because at the point when we eyes met, they quickly looked away and chuckled. The discomfort we felt throughout our visit was compounded at this point, making us question whether our experience was influenced by factors beyond our control. While Boot Barn offers an extensive range of western-style products in a clean and well-lit environment, our experience left us feeling unwelcome and uneasy. Honestly, I really like the beautiful boots in the store so much and would like to buy a pair in the future, I'm a bit hesitant to return.

Inadequate customer service skills, cashwrap guidance, store visual maintenance training and sales goals.I was hired at the new Novi, MI store as the ASM- Operations. A swarm of workers from across the nation traveled to assist. Only to take over, leave afterwards without providing us with adequate training to operate a new store. The unqualified SM, ASM, VM and keyholders are hopeless idiots and compete ruthlessly over the SPIFFs that amount to pittence. Being a brand new store, the culture is already unprofessional, hostile and toxic which was unbearable. A bunch of gossip mongers! The husband and wife team is allowed to run the stockroom without any oversight. They set their own hours and work whenever they please. When I shared this info and my dreadful experiences with the DM, I received 0 support!! FYI:On the day of the official grand opening, no one from the corporate office nor upper leadership made an appearance. Quite Shameful!
