It's a perfectly fine grocery store for a small town. Sure, you're not going to get a lot of specialty foods here, but what they've got is usually fairly priced. Obviously big box stores will have lower prices, as will discount shops that often have worse service. I've never had a problem here and almost always stop by when I'm adventuring in the area. Gotta stock up before heading out in the wilds!

Lots of variety of grocery items for a rural small town grocery store. Prices for most things compared to big city IGA, for some like bakery a little more. I got what I needed. Too I believe it's the only grocery store for a 50 mile radius.

Terrible amount of out-of-date food. Frozen food sometimes clearly had thawed out and been refrozen. Unless you have no choice, shop at the Ontonagon Dollar Store or shop in Houghton or Eagle River.

Great to have a grocery store other than a chain store.

They have a better selection than I expected. Some things are priced competitively compared to other grocery stores. Some things are painfully high. Some of the frozen food prices were laughable as were some snack prices. The alcohol selection and prices are actually quite good. I couldn’t believe how much booze they have.

An average grocery store. Very low supply of food for dietary allergies. Organic veggies not in stock. Picked up 2 items although other things were needed. Recommend stocking up on essentials and food before you hit this town.

Clean and well stocked local grocery store. Some items can be expensive but no more than what you’d typically find in a small town, however the do have frequent sales where you can find some really good deals.

I support Pat's as, not only a locally-owned grocery store chain, but also as the only grocery store option in Ontonagon. They seem to have a wide variety of niche items that you could need in a pinch, such as sesame oil, bamboo shoots, and calrose rice (I cook a lot of Asian food), as well as deli meats, cheeses, and sides (although those can be tricky to find of you don't know where to look). In the past they've had a terrible manager that was a major j*** to the employees and couldn't seem to keep the place staffed (treat your employees like trash and nobody wants to work there, what a concept), but he has since been replaced and they're doing much better at hiring and retaining good staff that are friendly, helpful, and actually want to work. The only drawback really is the price of some of their items, which seem to be way out there. It seems like they're trying to take advantage of the tourism/camping crowd that this area draws year-round, which really hurts the locals and those without the ability to do their shopping elsewhere, such as Houghton. With that being said, they do seem to have decent sales on a regular basis, so sometimes if you're on a budget or looking to save a few bucks, you can still find options that are affordable.
