The new owner of Round Midnight has moved the shop to a much more central location downtown and created a well-lit, modern, clean shop with a nevertheless chill vibe. Just a really nice record shop with a mix of used and new records.
I had a lot of fun looking through the bargain bins and found some great stuff. And in a time a lot of stores are bumping their value bin albums up to $2, there’s a large 50 cent section of odds and ends and the really scratch and dents. There were beater copies of stuff like Dylan, Beatles, Who and the like. So if you’re starting out or buying copies for friends or family, it’s worth the dig.
The owner is very exacting in grading too, so if it isn’t in vg/vg+ or (usually) better condition or really collectible, it ends up in the value bins.
Owosso is a bit of a hike from an already not very busy freeway, but given the town’s age, size, and heyday in the mid-20th century, there are a lot of records floating around and Round Midnight is where you’ll find a lot of them. It’s 100% worth the trip up from I-69, and if you’re looking for a reason to explore a new town, this is a good one.

It is always a pleasure doing business with Round Midnight Records. Dakota literally sold me a record strait off his turntable yesterday. It is a very pleasant atmosphere and cool place to hang out for a while and talk great music.

Nice store but you're not going to find a lot of challenging or experimental music here. Kind of a run-of-the-mill shop that sells the same thing that everybody else does.

Haven't paid Round Midnight a visit since it was at the previous location (I don't hit Owosso much anymore since Dean's Hobby Stop and Radio Shack left town), but I'm definitely going to have to change that here pretty soon.
Sorry grandpa didn't like the metal music playing, but that sounds right up my alley. 😁 Anything is better than the improv jazz a lot of indie record store owners seem to play...

Great selection of new and used vinyl. Some hard to find. Great atmosphere and they always work with you to either hold a record or find one you are looking for
