The Steam Railroading Institute is dedicated to educating the public about steam era railroading. It provides the experience of steam locomotives in actual operation. Visitors have a great and delightful time, calling it an amazing and awesome experience they revisit. Many highlight the North Pole Express trip, a wonderful and fun holiday celebration highly recommended for kids and fans of the story. Families and grandkids enjoy the best possible visit with Santa, a magician, and an amazing model train layout in the village of Ashley, a town geared towards children. The huge, beautiful, clean, and well-maintained steam locomotive pulling the long train is a highlight. The staff and volunteer car hosts are incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and great, making the trip fun and ensuring everybody enjoys themselves. The place is very kid friendly with a play area and kids' souvenirs. For adults, there is a themed cash bar. The hot chocolate is very good. Tickets for events sell out very fast, so following notifications is important. Overall, it is a fun experience that families will remember for a very long time.
Came, saw, rode, enjoyed. Lydia on cupid car was awesome. Roger the conductor was fantastic. The two of them made my sons bithday extra special. He loves trains and 1225 is at the top of his list. Thank you all at SRI for the work and dedication you put towards this event. I hope I can snag tickets for next year too!
