Customer service poor, employees are not qualified to be on a register, and employees are challenged.

I don't know what to say. If I had rated this place in the pre-Covid years, I would have given it a 5 star. It's getting better again, after being nearly half vacant from 2020 and well into 2022. Apparently, the main store on Division Ave. in Grand Rapids, closed down (also home to the re-hab center that all 8 stores within the district support) for a remodel. It truly is a great service and it was sad that construction delays and supply chain issues disrupted this operation - one that was in place for decades. The location on Division has reopened this year and is a bin store. However, in years (decades) prior, it was the main processing center for all 8 stores. Management has since decided that each location can run independently, with whatever donations they receive from locals. NOT a great idea. The Plainwell and Holland stores are considered self-sufficient - no need for a "push" from deliveries that used to be redistributed, daily - across the district. I used to be a FREQUENT Salvation Army patron, even when the main store kept a rather lame antique dealer in place (she had connections - 20 years, at least - now long gone) who overpriced anything that she deemed "valuable" or didn't keep herself. I really have high hopes, once again, for this location and the Division Ave. store. I think the charity is great. However, I'm not going to waste gas $$ going to these places, only to find shoddy merch or overpriced clothes. The Holland Store REALLY NEEDS HELP. I live here but quit going; the shelves are ALWAYS 1/2 empty. Incidentally, in order to get help, I do know that they allow employees to buy items BEFORE they reach the shelves. No wonder there is a pathetic selection in Holland. If the upper ranks let the workers do it there, they are probably letting them do it in each store. I'll update this post if anything truly improves.

The changing rooms are still closed and they don't do cash returns, only store credit. So trying to get clothes that fit here is pointless.

Ever since getting rid of the 69 cents sales, this place has really gone down hill. Past few times coming in, it just feels like it’s been stripped down to the bare bones, lack of inventory, and none of the unique finds one once found. William Booth would probably be rolling over in his grave if he walked in here, just saying!

Pretty decent place if you’re looking for cheap clothes and miscellaneous items. Definitely not a shameful place to shop - I mean, who doesn’t want cheap clothes! The only negative thing I ever experience about this environment is that the staff don’t appear chipper and friendly on the outside. There’s always a small, negative vibe in the air from employees, but we’re all human. Otherwise, really no complaints for basically a giant garage sale haha!

Reading all of the reviews there are things most people don't get1 PEOPLE do not even bother to pick up the clothes they drop on the flooras a former worker there my favorite quote was by a mother to her kid at the store in front of me Don't pick that up that is THEIR job.2 WOULD YOU PUT BACK WHERE IT WAS? most people won't even pick it off the floor to begin with as for sizing every piece of clothes3 They would have hire someone to work the "racks' all day to keep them straight. They have a somewhat of a daily quota of clothes they have to put out AND put away.4 It isn't cool to get your kids run loose in there. Swinging on the racksis not safe letting them loose in the toy department is not cool either someone has to straighten that up at least 4 or 5 times a day. Takes time away from getting clothes out.5 These people work HARD give them respect It makes the day better for everyone.

Impossible to find any clothes. Everything is sorted by color not size. I’ve also never been somewhere where every single employee is so miserable to be at work. I smiled at probably 4 to 5 employees today, said hello. And got absolutely nothing in return no-greeting, no hello, no do you need anything. Nobody is friendly in the store. I also don’t understand why they price items that belong together separate, for example, book shelf dividers or holders. They have one that makes an animal, but the body and end part are priced separately. They are an item you would have to buy together. Why not just tape them together & sell as one time?? Prices are crazy, there was a table that I have no idea how it was even standing it was so broke and wobbly, it was almost $29.99! Nothing is under $2.

You can find some deals here but they are definitely jacking the prices up on a lot of things.
