I've been here a couple times, and it always disappoints. This place has so much potential but just can't get over itself. The Coffee: plenty to choose from! The food is well-made and diverse, with plenty of drink options. Although the quality of my latte was lacking. It was weak and not at all smooth. I have had much better from other places downtown. Additionally, for a small latte with no modifications, especially a lackluster one, $5 after tax is outrageous. Not even their hated Starbucks is that expensive. The Atmosphere: the place has... character. It's cozy, but also in dire need of a cleaning. It's kind of musty and feels like it hasn't been vacuumed in a while. On the wall behind the counter, there are plenty of fun stickers. Amongst these, though, you can't go 3 inches without one sticker that says "smash Starbucks" or "destroy corporate greed" with a picture of the Starbucks logo. It all kinda becomes clear that the schtick here is that they aren't Starbucks. It's rather pretentious and I'd prefer they up their quality before advertising their superiority. The Service: my least favorite part. To say they're unfriendly is an understatement. When I went in twice before, both times they never cared to greet me or even smile. They took my order and conversation was kept to a complete minimum. I would have liked a little more of a welcoming environment. They have a tendency to act like you're an outsider and don't know what you're doing when it comes to coffee. This ties into the whole superiority thing, as someone who has been drinking coffee for a while now, I'd rather not be treated like I'm ordering a juice box. It's all too arrogant. Overall: will avoid in the future. Other coffeeshops have better coffee and better service. To the people in charge: please encourage some more lively interaction! I have spoken with a few others and we all seem to agree that it is a very unwelcoming environment. I'm glad to see independent local businesses thriving, but it's important not to act like you're better than everyone just because you're independent.

Unique atmosphere located in an old house. Great place to enjoy coffee and catch up with a friend.

Our go-to morning spot. I can't wait to enjoy the patio again when it gets a little warmer, but there is ample indoor seating with an eclectic vibe for the colder months. They also host some light events from time to time. We just participated in a St. Patrick's day scavenger hunt, which helped us learn even more about both the Irish history AND the town. Big thanks to Orla and co for always being welcoming.

Hot chocolate was fantastic, raspberry chocolate cake was delicious best choiceAtmosphere was unique, different, i felt like I’m invited to someone’s house not in a store , home set up , couches, table lamps, sofas ….But it wasn’t very welcoming environment..my friend wears Head wrap (religious cover). Everyone was looking at her weirdly, which embarrassed her and me!!We are in 2024 ??♀️ !! Civilize

I love this cafe. It reminds me of places I used to hide out at to study or meet a friend or date. The prices are high but so is the quality of drinks and snacks. The atmosphere is suitably Bohemian or college town-esqe. If there were more outlets, this would be perfect. Service is very friendly and patient. Parking is hit or miss like most of downtown Plymouth.

I love coming here for coffee chats. The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed and the service is always great. The scones will definitely require a drink to wash them down though.

Super nice staff and amazing study atmosphere. The chai felt like it was missing something but it was an amazing experience.

Enjoyed the creative and beautiful crafted drink and treat. Red Door Mocha - toffee was my first flavor with a hint of banana, delicious! Mosaic chocolate Raspberry treat was good, but only thing that did not agree with me was the texture. Texture was one note and my taste buds craved more raspberry.

When you're in Plymouth this unassuming coffee shop should be your first stop. Orla and her crew sling some of the best coffee creations I've ever tasted and always make incredible recommendations. My husband stops by at least once a week for an "undertow" which is a layered espresso shot and I enjoy either a flat white (espresso with steamed milk) or try one of their specials. It's always busy, service is impeccable and you will leave happy.

Loved the Plymouth coffee bean! What an adorable café! There is lots of room and there are many cozy nooks to relax/ work from! The decor is super refreshing and fun. The desserts ( especially the blueberry muffin) were great and so was the bagel! The drinks were expertly made and I love the little seasonal specialty drinks! I definitely want to come here again soon!

The vibe of the Plymouth Coffee Bean seems like it's straight out of a Portland indie coffee shop, so I had high hopes. Unfortunately, things did not work out. I visited twice, and both times I found their coffee weak. I tried both the medium and dark roast. The place has a case of impressive looking pasties, and over the course of the two visits, I tried a mini lemon Bundt cake, a sugar cookie, a spinach & feta pie, and a raspberry turnover. The raspberry turnover was just plain awful, with a cardboard-textured crust that was inedible. Didn't finish this. The sugar cookie was thick, really thick. It lacked flavor and was not worth eating. I didn't finish this. The mini Bundt cake was the only thing I finished on that first visit. It has a pleasant lemony flavor, and I would get this again. The crust of the spinach & feta pie was really nice, flaky and buttery. The filling was in desperate need of salt, and once I got home and was able to sprinkle some on, the pie was pretty good. All in all, I was disappointed by the Plymouth Coffee Bean and will not be back.
