Was pretty excited when booking this room at first. I had extra bonus points that needed to be used. I thought for 12,000 points I was getting a good deal.Upon arrival, the gentleman at the front was very nice, respectful and friendly. When I was checking in, there was an odour in the hotel. We went up the elevator which jolted and jumped all the way to the 3rd floor. We didn't feel safe.Walking down the hallway we smelt another odor. It was a mix of marijuana and just a really bad smell. The whole walk down the hallway was hard to withstand. We wanted to leave immediately but the room was non refundable.Once we walked in the room it didn't smell so great either. The walls seemed like it was paper thin and we could hear people everywhere. The clothes dresser kept on popping open. Everywhere we stepped on the floor it kept on creaking. We sat on the bed and it was stiff as a sheet of wood.We were really unsure about staying the night at that point. We didn't feel comfortable. We decided to go down to the pool to get away from the room. We took the shady elevator all the way down for the first time and it seemed like it shifted when we started going down.We finally got to the pool alive and in one piece. There were signs all over the place that said "lifeguard not on duty, use at own risk"We dipped our feet into what we were hoping would be a nice warm pool. It was freezing!! We decided to slowly go in and once in the water we realized it smelt worse then a lake! We looked along the water long along the edge of the pool and it was completely covered in like a thick algae/mould. Hopefully this review gets somebody's attention to at least drain the water and clean and maintain that pool for the first time since it's been built. We were worried we would need our goggles so we could look under water when swimming because of the chlorine but this is something we didn't need to worry about once we got into the pool because there was no chlorine in it ever. The gentleman at the front came in to see if everything was okay. We told him the water was freezing. He left really quickly and came back. He let us know he put fresh towels in the dryer for us. We thought it was extremely thoughtful of him to do that. The whole time we were out of our room he had a pleasent conversation with us the whole time. When we got back to the room we were going to try to relax and watch a movie. The bed was so hard we had a very hard time trying to get comfy. My whole body went numb on the side I was "sleeping" on.Our day started at 5am.we could no longer lay down on the bed. My husband didn't get one wink of sleep. 0/5 stars for the bed. It's noon and we've been up for 6 hours and I am so sore.We went downstairs to have breakfast. We both decided that we could not stay at that hotel for another night.I was personally not happy with that hotel. I am a diamond elite member. I've been to many BW hotels and that one is by far the worst hotel I've been at, the staff were really really nice, I just wasn't happy with that exact hotel.I would not come back.

the fogger and the mirror didn't work. the bathroom set up was just inconvenient. the beds were not comfortable at all and the TV isn't able to connect to Wi-Fi. even though it's a smart TV, can only watch a basic cable, not rent a movie of our choice. it was not the best experience at all. people were loud in the hallways. staff was rude during an incident happening in the hotel and I got hung up on would never go there again

I have been to this hotel several times in recent years. I was disappointed with my last visit. The place needs a little, a lot of love in renovation. The dining room was not clean (wall, floor) at 7 a.m., it took away my taste for breakfast. This is my last time in this place.

I wanted to start off by saying when my family arrived from Canada we were able to check in early and that was nice they lady was very friendly.Second I want to say this was our family first time spending the night across the border it was a bit wild at night as we were told to stay inside because there was a "gunmen" around that was wild especially being from Canada and having kids with us.Let's talk about the room itself. There was garbage left behind the TV stand, beside the fridge and under the desk I have attached pictures. I had a dirty towel left in my room as you can see in the pictures as well along with the headboard was falling apart. They may need to get on there cleaners more.Elevator sounded like it was about to fall apart when it hit the 1st floor.Let's talk pool, it was a good size however cold, wish they had bigger towles maybe a floor mat by the steps so people don't fall from getting out.Moving to breakfast, they give you a great assortment of food and it overall was good. The gentleman in the morning was nice and ok with my kids being loud and wild like kids do.I would like to give this hotel another try in hopes a few things may be fixed and or changed but I'm not 100% sure.

So this was probably the worst hotel I've stayed in in 20 years. Upon entry of my there was a smell of cleaner/ bug bomb. I took 2 steps inside of my room to notice plastic forks, hair ties, Powerade bottles underneath the sink(mind you the guy at the front desk said it was "just cleaned." We were ready for bed... Pulled back the covers to find makeup on the pillowcases. At this point I searched the bed to make sure there wasn't anything else to be concerned with.... Upon further investigation I could a ton of BED BUG droppings along the headboard side of the covers..... I was so disappointed and disgusted because up to last night I'd never had a bad experience at a Best Western. I tried to post pictures but it wouldn't allow me to.

I have a few things to say first off we were here for a hockey tournament and the manager kept yelling at the kids for being to disruptive when they were just walking through the hallway and I was with them as well. Also the elevator never worked and sounded like it was about to fall apart. The stairs also had a strong smell of weed and cigarettes. When we checked in there was beer in our trash can as well. There was also a lady that was taking pictures of the kids in the pool without permission and when we asked her to stop she kept on going asked the front desk about it later and turns out she is a regular there shoutout to t’sila. Never coming back this place sucks but the night manager named Rona,d is the most nice and thoughtful person ever.Rooms: Most disgusting things everSafety: Was near a very shady bridge with lots of people smoking under it

I live in the area and needed a place to stay while having work done at my home last summer I’m embarrassed that this is quality of accommodation we offer visitors to our area the rooms were filthy the furniture damaged and falling apart the back door was left partially open so anyone could enter without being seen did not feel safe staying on the first floor

The front desk clerk was clearly overwhelmed when we checked in and was not very friendly. (He also stepped right outside the entrance several times during our stay and smoked. I didn't want to be walking through smoke to get in and out of the hotel.) The elevator was very slow and jerky. In fact we only used it the one time and then chose to only use steps after that (even when checking out with all our luggage). The room was old, worn, outdated and DIRTY!!!! Our carpet had debris all over it and clearly hadn't been vacuumed in who knows how long. One of the beds had hair in the sheets. If it wasn't late at night at check in I would have tried to find a different hotel. I would never stay here again.

This place is amazing! The staff are very professional and pleasant to interact with. When you need something they make sure you are taken care of. The breakfast selection is always delicious and plentiful. I would stay here again in the future. Thank you for making my family and I feel welcome and comfortable during our stay!

This hotel is run down and dingy. Riding the elevator is a little too much like the tower of terror ride at Disney World. I knew we were at the bottom after the 2nd bang. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean. That’s all I can say good about the room. The AC unit struggled to keep the room cool and did little to alleviate the humidity. However, the staff at this hotel are spectacular in every way. They were helpful, cheerful and kind at every interaction. And the location with its proximity to the border and dining etc. is superb.

After a five hour drive, we checked into the hotel. While waiting for front desk person to check they had a clean room (we had booked online earlier that day), we witnessed a barefoot female, wearing a t-shirt and underwear come running out of the pantry area after a young man.It turns out this girl was staying in the room next to us. Perhaps this was because she had recently broken up with her boyfriend!? I heard the whole conversation through the wall into the early hours of the morning. The door was constantly opening and banging closed and my husband saw lots of traffic up and down the hall throughout the evening. We tried ringing the front desk but no one answered. At one point, we turned on the light in our room to find it had become filled with a smoky haze and a strong stench of marijuana. We arrived just before 10pm (having advised the hotel of our late check-in), and we left around 6am after having less than two hours of sleep before driving a further nine hours. At the time of checking out, I informed the front desk person of our experience. They were not surprised and, laughing, stated ‘Oh ya, that would have been Brandi.’ The young man mopping the floors chimed in after hearing Brandi’s name and asked what happened. The front desk lady answered ‘seems like Brandi had another party last night’. Again, neither seemed surprised. If I could leave a minus five stars I would. It was the worst hotel experience EVER and not so much as an apology from the manager!

Very disappointed that a serious elevator safety issue existed when I checked in. Elevator was not level with floor sometimes as much as 6”. Without being aware I stumbled in as if I had missed a step. Management was aware and had not even posted warnings. After I insisted, small print warning signs were put up. Couldn’t believe this safety issue was being ignored. Lobby and elevator were dirty and not swept in the 3 days we were there. Room smelled moldy and there were drinking parties just out side the entrance nightly. Fond memories of staying in Best Western hotels growing up now seem so long ago. This experience leads me to think of a phrase by the rock star Prince. This hotel is now the hotel formerly known as Best. Greg Smith

I have been traveling the last 2yrs. The staff here give the best hospitality. The breakfast was great. The manager cares about her staff and her position and it shows in the properly serving of food(I am a chef)to the cleanliness. I highly recommend Best Western Port Huron.
