I always come in for breakfast sandwiches at usually the most inconvenient time of the night ,but that never stops Lauren from greeting me with a smile. The way Lauren handles the Speedy Cafe is simply unmatched by any of her coworkers. She's fast and efficient, and the execution is spot on. Here is a message to all current or future speedway employees. BE LIKE LAUREN!!

I usually love Speedway and I'm going to throw the ole cliche that "I'm not one to leave bad reviews BUT......." First off, no napkins anywhere in the whole gas station. Wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't post-Covid 19 - 365, swine flu, bird flu, etc etc. In addition to having no napkins, you also don't get a straw till you purchase your drink. I understand the cost cutting concept there. Hopefully you understand, when one is unable to pop the straw in the cup they inevitably overfilled, you're gonna have a slip and fall in no time! Allow your patrons to wash and dry their hands..... It prevents the spread of so many diseases.

In all honesty, there are plenty of things about the place that I do like and some I don't. For for the positives, it's nice to have the made to order grill. The burgers, breakfasts and chicken strips are solid. They have a pretty good variety of snacks and beverages and probably the best coffee station around for a convenience store, which for the most part is stocked well anytime I come in. The staff typically are very attentive to folks and mostly have good customer service skills, at least when compared to many other gas stations in town (could smile more but still better than most in the Blue Water area of the larger chains). I often utilize the rewards program for my gas and snacks and find it to be the best deal around. As for things to fix. I do miss the less expensive 2 for $3-4 sandwich options like the rib sandwich. The bathrooms could be better attended, and like too many others, the COVID oversensitivity bugs me, as well as the change stinginess (they hate breaking bills but too often from the bank all I get is bigger bills. This day in age, I feel like the customer works more at the register than the employee. Wear gloves if you have to. Other places bag the food I get.

Everyone knows the jokes about "gas station food." Well, with the Speedy Cafe, they're all out the window. Where else can you go and get freshly made burgers, chicken sandwiches, and piping hot "Speedy Spuds," which are like Tater Tots for ... get this ... about $5 a meal? Here's a hint. Nowhere. You can choose from FIVE different kinds of cheese for your sandwich. You can choose from 12 DIFFERENT SAUCES! A combo of a garlic sourdough panini burger, made your way, a Speedy Spuds, and a sizable slushee is what costs $5. There are breakfast sandwiches, stocked wedges (called subs in Port Huron), bowls, chicken sandwiches, and all manner of other yummy treats. They even do pizza. Oh, did I mention that they have 10 or more slushee flavors available? You can also choose hot dogs, Taquitos, and such from the rollers, but the rock stars are the fresh food for a pittance. Is it 5-star, Ritz quality? No. But, the food is tasty and fresh, and you just cannot beat the price. They're also open 24 hours, so you can indulge your guilty burger pleasure any time. Heartily recommend. It's easy to order too. They have touchscreen displays.
