Meadow Brook Hall is a historic house museum and cultural center located on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Built between 1926 and 1929 by Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of auto pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, Alfred Wilson, it is a stunning example of Tudor-revival architecture. Covering 88,000 square feet, the mansion is renowned for its craftsmanship, architectural details, and grand scale. Open year-round for public tours, Meadow Brook Hall is especially popular during the holiday season. Visitors enjoy the beautiful decorations and impressive Christmas displays, including over 50 Christmas trees and a 10-foot tall Poinsettia tree made from 150 live plants. The holiday lighting shows, both inside and outside the mansion, create a magical experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, sharing the house's history and details about the Dodge Wilson family. During festive times, amenities like hot chocolate, refreshments, and gift shop items are available, and a shuttle service makes parking easy. Overall, Meadow Brook Hall offers a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of America’s wealthy auto industry founders, with beautiful architecture and festive holiday events making it a must-visit destination in Michigan.
It's a beautiful place. However if you go at Christmas, a lot of things are blocked off and the docents were not as knowledgeable as would have been useful. On the other hand, at Christmas you get to see incredibly beautiful decorations.

Visited for the Christmas lights tour. They did a great job decorating all of the rooms. With timeslots assigned, the tour was not crowded at all. Will definitely visit again!
