I always stay here for the park and fly rate. Beats waking up early and the price is great. My car battery was dead when I returned, and the shuttle driver let my family stay warm in the shuttle while he got jumper cables and got me started. Great hotel with a 24-hour shuttle.

First room was falling apart; heat broken, phone broken, stains and chips off walls and door. No indoor pool or even indoor rooms. Breakfast was sad. Service was very accommodating.

I didn't stay here but I desperately needed a restroom and when I politely asked to use theirs when I should have just followed the signs, I was told it was out of order and they refused to let me use one that worked. Which begs the question, based on the look of the lobby and entrance, and other reviews/photos, I doubt anything here works or is clean. I wouldn't be surprised if a run-down gas station would actually be cleaner than this place, and people are expected to have a good night's rest? Highly doubt it. Just on my short experience, I would never wish anyone, even my worst enemy, to stay here. The front desk is more concerned about their phone than anything else. Absolutely disgusted with all of it.

This was a nice property despite the problems: dirty vinyl floor, no freezer box in the fridge, many TV stations dead and many more marginal, CNN selected in breakfast room, swimming pool closed in June, only 2 towels provided for 4 guests, long term guests smoking/loitering outside rooms. This was still better than most alternatives so our overall experience was better than our expectations.

I had a fantastic stay at Howard Johnson near the Detroit airport. The hotel's convenient location allowed for a stress-free journey, and the complimentary airport shuttle made my arrival and departure seamless. The comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and delicious breakfast options made my stay truly enjoyable.Ronavin was a amazing front desk clerk

Horrible place to stay. I dont know if they even clean the rooms. Smells very bad and strong odor in rooms. Washroom is awfully small and dirty. Do not recommend at all.

Our power was out so we were desperate for air and WiFi and all of the other hotels were booked up. The front desk staff was very nice and inviting. The room was comfortable and clean until I found hair in the tub and a big glob of hair on the side of the toilet. My towels even had hair on them. They didn’t even offer to clean it. The pool was down and the breakfast suck. The coffee was good. And if you want extra towels you’ll have to exchange the dirty ones to get clean ones.I guess you get what you pay for.

By far the worst hotel experience. Floor was not sweep good. Towels were missing and when my husband asked for more towels he was told that he would have to bring the other towels back first. Fast forward to check out I was told I had wait until the room was inspected. Unbeknown to us the comforter was placed on the bed. Front desk receptionist basically was trying to ask without asking if we took the comforter. No ma’am as I stated you might want to check with your housekeeping staff. So if you’re ever in the Metro Detroit Area/ Romulus do not stay at the Howard Johnson location on Flynn drive.Signed a dissatisfied Customer.P.S : Do better Howard JohnsonRooms: Not up to standard.. rooms need to be upgraded immediately.Walkability: Access to everything.

What a terrible experience, starting from the cleanliness of the bed sheets, there were definitely not changed from previous guests, everything was full of hairs including some towels, I know this is a affordable hotel but that doesn’t allow them to be dirty.Customer service is really bad, would definitely not be staying here again.If you can pay a little extra and go somewhere different please do.

I’m so upset with my last stay, I won’t ever go back. I checked in and was told I could have a late checkout. I was working at 5:30 pm the night after checkout, so wasn’t planning on starting my day until mid-afternoon, being a shift worker. Well, that didn’t happen. Housekeeping started knocking on my door before 9 am! Then continued knocking a total of FIVE times throughout the day while I tried to sleep. I explained I was told I could have a late checkout, but the staff doesn’t communicate with each other, or I wouldn’t have housekeeping knocking every hour. I was a regular, and stayed here often, and looked past the poor environment because I was treated very well by Samantha and Genona, who were always kind and professional. However, after the treatment I received earlier today, I will never go back. I have no idea why housekeeping was so anxious to get in, because the rooms aren’t clean. What really angered me was the last person banging on my door said they were sold out for the night (a lie), and when I said I would pay for a whole other night if they’d stop interrupting my sleep, the room was suddenly available. I was a regular, and this hotel had an agreement with my company for discounted rates, and early/late check outs. There are much better hotels with comparable rates, with professionals who behave accordingly. And don’t have cobwebs all over the rooms, mold in the shower and wifi and phones that actually work. I am in the travel business, and they know this, so I’m shocked at how poorly I was treated today, when they know how many potential customers I could refer to them.

Let me start by saying the customer service here is amazing. Genona is amazing. Always so sweet and helpful at the front desk. Very affordable and never one issue with cleanliness or service. Highly recommend coming to stay here if you need a room close to the airport.

the hotel is very easy to findthey are very prompt to get you to the airport at any time you need to catch a flight .even if it is at 3:00 am ..the shuttle is also just as prompt to pick you up from the airport and bring you back to the hotel..parking to leave your car for the duration of your trip away is 10.00 dollars a day. and your vehicle is safe until you return.the rooms are clean .the pool is closed .not sure why ..very quiet and there is a restaurant right next door to have breakfast, lunch ,and dinner.also a gas station .very easy to get back on the highway to leave .I stay here every time I fly from Detroit.

I didn’t read the reviews, but I wish I had. Check in was quick and easy. The room was a bit of a shock. The room was dirty, the shower ran all night and the bathroom door needs to be fixed. We chose to not shower to get out of there as quick as we could in the morning. Outdated rooms are fine, but this was pretty grungy. I’ll do better research next time.
