South Higgins Lake State Park offers a fun and scenic outdoor experience with beautiful, clear water that is perfect for swimming, tubing, and fishing. The beach has shallow areas that are ideal for toddlers learning to swim. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as boating, with a boat ramp that requires patience, and relaxing on the many picnic tables and BBQ pits, although finding an unclaimed spot can sometimes be challenging. The park is dog-friendly, allowing dogs on leashes, and many visitors bring their pets along to enjoy the water and camping areas. The park has clean, well-maintained restrooms, though there have been concerns about limited ventilation and occasional closures that leave campers waiting. Camping sites are larger on the south side, which is more lively and closer to the water, making it convenient for docking boats or enjoying the lagoon. The park store has been remodeled and is staffed by friendly, helpful employees, adding to the inviting atmosphere. Overall, South Higgins Lake State Park is a peaceful, clean, and enjoyable place for a quick getaway or longer stay, with a lively vibe on the south side and plenty of outdoor activities to explore.

Nice park with one main beach and several smaller ones scattered throughout. Busy boat launch and campgrounds. Good size store with food and ice cream, as well as general items and Higgins Lake merch. Good amount of restrooms and changing areas. Also, a few paths to walk.
