I live in the Soo but I don't use this bank. They are no SOO CO-OP in terms of badness and rude behaviour but I did call them to ask them something and they really don't have very good verbal skills on the phone. They weren't trying to be rude but they kind of gave off the vibe of "We'd appreciate it if you didn't call and got off the phone." Let me be clear, I wasn't rude at all to the male on the phone, nor was the phone call longer than even 2 minutes so I'm not sure what sparked this. I had a simple inquiry and it was quite awkward and turned me away from potentially opening an account in the future. That is all. Thank you for reading.

Went there on a weekend to pay my rent and the teller decided to stamp a future date on my rent receipt which caused me all kinds of hassles with my landlady. I understand that they post it to the account due to it being on a weekend but they still should stamp the date the payment was received not when it's supposed to be posted to the person's account. Staff there is not very friendly.

I was referred to CSB through my real estate agent, Barb from Smith & Company, to help obtaining a conventional mortgage after being rejected many times for working in cannabis. I was introduced to Erin A., the VP of the bank, who worked tirelessly to get us approved and handle everything even at night after hours!She later connected me with Michele, who was wonderful in getting every other aspect of the mortgage done down to closing. Both women were extremely efficient and moved SO fast. At close, everything was laid out cleanly for me to ensure I had no questions as a first time home buyer. We couldn’t be happier with the service we received and can’t wait to become members ourselves.

As it is, this bank provides unconventional mortgages to people who don't qualify for regular mortgages because their property is off grid, etc. So high interest rates. I asked them back as far as 2017 to apply my extra payments to principal so I could pay my loan off faster. I have it in writing when in 2021 I told them I wanted to pay it off even faster --in 3 years-- and needed an amount. I didn't end up paying that much but I've paid probably $16K in extra payments that were applied to escrow or "future payments" which means they didn't reduce my principal and interest and instead double whammied us by investing our cash flow and they refuse to remedy this. It has ruined our retirement. Stay away from them. Not sure how we'll address this. I'm sure arbitration is in their favor. Consumer groups and attorneys, we'll see. But our note allowed us to pay off early and they are supposed to honor the request of applying extra payments to principal.

My wife called to talk to the mortgage lenders to ask if they work with people who just started their jobs. The lady hung up the phone on her without even answering. She could have just said no. So very rude and unprofessional. She made my wife cry.

If you are looking for a bank that goes above and beyond for their customers, this is the bank to choose. They treat you like family and go out of their way to make sure all your needs are met. Rob Landis is a true asset to the CSB team. He always made me feel at ease with the loan process and was just a phone call away for any questions or concerns. Doing loan stuff during covid was difficult but Rob was there to help make a difficult process easier. You won't be disappointed if you choose CSB as your financial institution. You are family, not just a customer!
