Beware of Misleading Promises at LA Fitness - Unethical Practices Alert!I feel compelled to share my experience with LA Fitness to alert others about a concerning practice I encountered. While the facilities and equipment are commendable, the same cannot be said for the company's ethical conduct.I initially accepted a free plan with the condition to cancel within 7 days. Unfortunately, when I attempted to cancel my training, I faced a series of challenges. Despite promises made during the sign-up process, LA Fitness failed to honor their commitment to cancel my training as agreed upon.This discrepancy has left me out of pocket with a significant financial burden. It's disheartening to see a company resort to such tactics, especially after promising transparency and fairness.I urge potential members to be cautious when considering any free plans or time-limited offers. Make sure to carefully scrutinize the terms and conditions before committing, as my experience highlights the potential risks involved.While LA Fitness offers a range of amenities, the lack of accountability and adherence to their own promises has left a sour taste in my mouth. It's my hope that by sharing this experience, others can make informed decisions about their memberships and avoid falling victim to similar situations.In summary, my review is intended not as an indictment of the entire gym experience at LA Fitness, but rather a cautionary tale about their business practices. This gym amenities are constantly closed and the sauna has been closed for nearly a year. Now the steam room is broke and they say it won’t be fixed for weeks. I truly feel they just don’t want to pay the electric bill for these items.

I would give them a half star if I could. One of the worst managed gyms in the area. All the amenities are broken and disgusting. The staff is very rude and no one wants to take accountability for the issues, especially the sales manager - I would highly recommend anyone in the greater Shelby area to avoid this gym

Their Sauna is never working. Same with steam rooms. What is the point of labeling it a signature club? Also, equipment needs updating. Bottomline, better options for gyms including other LA fitnesses in area. One in Warren is the best around.

FREE TRIAL SCAMTried this place out as I had a friend who lifted here regularly. They offered me a 7 day free trial and I could cancel anytime as long as I called.They never provided me with a copy of my agreement and refused to do so unless I came back to the club. As such, I told them I wanted to cancel (this was still within the free trial timeframe and over the phone).After I said the magic words, they "couldnt cancel me until someone higher up" called. - They never called me back.I went into the club in person and they still refused to cancel- just stating they would "let someone know".Finally I got an email regarding how to mail in my cancellation. They have taken hundreds of dollars out of my account at this point and I had been to the club once and they refuse to contact me.

This is the worst gym I’ve ever been inside of. This place realizes there’s not much other options so they scalp prices and don’t fix anything. The management doesn’t train anyone so the young people have no idea what they’re doing despite pure intentions. None of my complaints are toward the workers because they are simply improperly trained and fail to deliver do too ignorance and horrible leadership. Equipment is constantly down or missing. Steam room broken. Sauna broken. No rules enforced. Nothing.

This place should not be called a Signature club, the worst gym in Michigan. Nothing works at this place ever- sauna and steam room is out for months and jacuzzi is filthy. LA should reimburse the customers for such pathetic maintenance for the hefty membership they charge.

This being a signature club is just embarrassing. Poor management, (rarely anyone at the front desk during the later hours) and overall just dirty and smelly. Something is constantly broken, from fires in the sauna, to smelly and broken steam rooms, to filthy pool and hot tub. Went there recently and the sauna, steam room and hot tub were all broken… what do we pay for then?

This location is home of “Scheduled For Service “. Something is always broken. Steam room and Sauna have been shut down all summer. Forget about using the pool because, they have swimming lessons scheduled all the time. This location is filthy as well. For a comparison, the Roseville location is way cleaner, friendlier staff, and a juice bar with various pre/post workout drinks. I’m paying for a family plan right now and there’s just no value in it. I might as well go to Planet Fitness, for half the price because this location has none of the added amenities available. I’ve complained to the staff on several occasions and it’s very apparent that they just don’t care. I’ll be canceling my family membership very soon.

My main focus on getting a membership to this location is the pool/spa. Due to a slight disability, swimming is my main source of activity. I’ve seen complaints about the lack of cleanliness. Yes, this location could use a more frequent wipe down. However my complaint is the WAIT time to get to swim!

I chose LA over Plantet Fitness for the sole reason that they have a sauna and steamroom. I've been a member a bit over a month, and both amenities have been closed for over a week. After inquiring with other members, I have learned that this is a common occurrence. I'm going to be asking for a partial reimbursement monthly until this is fixed. If they can't work with me on this, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I got a tick/tick bite from this place after using the sauna. Place is not clean. At all. This is a picture of the bite after I put hydrogen peroxide on it once I got home.I should’ve kept the bug in a bag and brought it to the front desk but we filed a complaint over the phone because there wasn’t a manager in this Sunday.I was there at 1:30pm today.

As a new member, I was shopping around to find the best gym prior to signing up. I was lucky enough to stop in at this location and meet with Rob, the general manager. He was very thorough, patient, informative, and efficient. He walked me through all my options as well as thoroughly went over the pay to try and help me get the best out of my experience at an affordable price. I am glad to say that in the short period of time I was there, I decided to be a member here and start my journey.

I cannot speak more highly of my customer service experience with Robert and Julie. These two individuals helped me communicate with corporate LA Fitness about a contract I signed, in the most helpful and thoughtful way! I’m active duty Air Force, and with the military moving me, Robert and Julie tried to help me save hundreds of dollars by going the extra mile to reach out to their authorities to explain my sudden situation. Thank you for helping a gal out of pure kindess!!And big shout out to my personal trainer, Sierra D, who helped me ask about situation in the first place. Girl you always have my interests in mind and I loved loved loved getting trained by you!

I was excited to try this club after my husband and I are looking to switch to a different gym, especially with the amenities they have (sauna, steam room, hot tub, etc...) I really wanted to like this gym but as others have reviewed, it is very unclean.I'm not a clean freak but it is very underwhelming to see - no one wipes down equipment or stretching mats after use, some machines appear to be lacking routine maintenance, and besides the trash being taken out in the locker room...It's quite dirty. The spa area does not appear as if it's routinely maintained and cleaned (spa, hot tub, steam room) floors are dirty and grimey (not sure how often they mop), and the steam room is currently is out of order. There was a regular in the locker room who mentioned the steam room is regularly out of order when she saw the note on it. Husband has similar experience in the men's locker room/spa area. Not what you'd expect for signature club experience.I give 2 stars instead of lower because someone on their staff listened to our feedback is going to let operations know. I hope to change this review into a more positive one as we're going to revisit in a month and hope to see any improvements made before getting a membership. This was experienced with a free week pass at the gym. Based on previous reviewers with similar feedback I'm not too confident in this, but going to give this gym a second chance. If not, we will be taking our business elsewhere.
