This facility was great! Everyone, and I mean everyone, was so kind supportive and helpful. The process was super easy to get situated for surgery. A+. Would totally recommend to anyone.

I did a visit for my mom but unfortunately the nursing facility is short term and she needs at least 6 weeks. Nedra was very pleasant while giving me a tour. She made me feel very reassured although I had to choose a long term place elsewhere l.

I recently had gallbladder surgery at this surgery center, and I can't express my gratitude enough. From the check in to post-op care, the entire staff was exceptionally kind and patient. Especially my pre op nurse Allison, my post op nurse (I can't remember her name due to anesthesia), my surgeon Dr. Laker and the entire anesthesia team. They guided me through every step with empathy and professionalism. The surgeon and nurses created a comforting environment, making the entire experience as smooth as possible. I highly recommend this surgery center for their outstanding care and support.

I very recently had a family member receive a 2nd much needed surgery here. The Dr who performed the surgery was excellent, the recovery room staff were outstanding, the move to his overnight room introduced us to a day shift nursing staff that were absolutely amazing. Unfortunately that is where the stellar care ended. The night shift nursing staff need to find a different profession. (Specifically those on shift the evenings of Dec 21 & 22, 2023, 4th floor). They in no way made him feel that he was in a place with competent & professional staffing. They showed no compassion or respect for him as a paying customer who came into their care because it’s a choice facility but could have gone elsewhere. Not only did they ignore his requests for pain meds that were within the time of the prescribed orders, he was made to wait over 2 hours after his request to receive the meds. One individual even went as far as arguing with him about the medications he was receiving and implied the doctor was “tricking him”. He was told to drink less water because he was “peeing it out of his system making it not work as well” and making snide comments regarding his medications ordered, as well as tormenting him with threats regarding their family members who would be “working at the facility” he was moving to and “would make his life a living hell”. Why are these monsters allowed to work in an healthcare environment where people are vulnerable?! Not every post-operative patient is a drug seeker, and should not be treated as such. Even the drug seekers do not deserve to be treated in this way as they made a choice to come to the facility.Monitor your midnight staff please.I would not recommend anyone utilize the services at this facility unless they intend to leave the same day.

Deborah Kelly was the best of all the staff members I ever met at a hospital. I’m not scared of hospitals now because of her. GREAT HOSPITALITY

This review is unusually long at it covers in a lot of detail what exactly went wrong, but for those who do not have that kind of time, the short version is that this place will likely cost you a lot of money out of pocket and not given any warning about it until it’s too late. I’m hoping my experience can be a cautionary tale that saves people from falling into the same trap. It’s important to note that I am talking about the Dearborn office which apparently can’t be reviewed separate from the Southfield location which I did not know existed until attempting to write this review.I would like to start by saying that although my review of Surgeon’s Choice Medical Center is extremely low, it is not the fault of the medical staff working there. They were friendly, efficient, and professional and the procedure was identical to the one I had a year before with a different provider. My problem lies with the administration and the $1400 surprise medical bill I got hit with for a diagnostic test, the same diagnostic test that had been completely covered a year before by the other provider. To dig in a little deeper, the problem turned out to be that, at Surgeon’s Choice, the test was a hospital outpatient procedure, rather than an in-office procedure as my prior one had been. Since hospital outpatient procedures are an order of magnitude more expensive and not entitled to extra health insurance coverage, the difference in cost gets passed along to the patient. And, in case any of that pesky legislation intended to prevent such billing tries to get in the way, they have a workaround. Slipped into the heap of papers that everybody must sign for medical at every office everywhere (hipaa, consent to treat, etc.) is a document promising to pay your bill. Its purpose is to get you to sign a blank check for them to charge you whatever they like, a necessary thing because, without any warning, they will be billing you a great deal out-of-pocket, and they are aware of this.I emphasize the ‘without any warning’ because no effort is made to let patients know that everything will be billed hospital outpatient. This is more important at the Dearborn office which, in no way indicates it has any connection to a hospital. I really had to investigate to discover that they send their bills to Oakwood Regional Hospital in Southfield (not to be confused with the much more well-known Beaumont Oakwood), a place I’d never even heard of before this bill, and it is therefore hospital outpatient. Ironically, I have been to a Beaumont Hospital Outpatient center and not had my care there billed as hospital outpatient as it very well could have been and would have been less surprising if it was than my experience at Surgeon’s Choice. And since the office that referred me to them, which had done in office procedures, also used surgery in its name, I had no reason to believe that the office name was meant to do anything more than evoke a sense of professionalism and standards. The lack of transparency was compounded by their administration’s behavior when I understandably questioned the bill. The bill went under review, a process that should have taken less than 45 days. During that time, I kept receiving increasingly hostile letters demanding I pay my bill, which, each time I checked in, was still under review. After 60 days, when it seemed like they were going to push me into collection, I managed to, after a couple of phone calls, get someone to admit that the bill was what it was and there was no mistake without very much explanation (I actually had to go to my insurance company to even figure what was different between this procedure and the previous one, which turned out to be how it was billed). This was when I finally got the name of the hospital taking credit. So, in conclusion, their billing practices here are intentionally veiled, ethically suspect, and likely to cost you a lot of money out of pocket without you realizing it until it is too late.

Place is OK in a pinch, but if you value your loved one's happiness, I would avoid this one. It's literally the bare minimum, and they were very understaffed.

Had a surgery done hear last year. The paperwork that they drop on you at the last minute was obscene. They asked for a power of attorney. We agreed to a payment plan and made regular monthly payments. Then they started demanding payment in full out of the blue, even after we sent them a copy of the original payment plan. So I started paying them $1 a month from a check issued via my bank. Now we are getting collection calls presumably related to this company. I'm relatively certain that these actions are against the law. Be warned, this company is shady.

My mother in law has been here for a few days after a fall. I have called multiple times to attempt to talk to the nurse or social worker and have never been able to get through to an actual person.

Much better experience for my surgery at the Warren location- The nurses in the Warren location conveyed in their tone they cared more. Southfield- the nurses were not friendly although they did their job- I felt more like a number, I asked for help putting my piercing back in at first the one staff member would not help until I complained, the person that called me the day before would not tell me an estimated time even after I asked so it was hard to orchestrate a ride, was shouting out for help with workers around me (doctor, technician, assistance, etc). They ignored me- busy with other work. If patience don’t come, they have no job. There is a nurse here that was nice at the Warren location that works here as well. She’s nice and conveys she cares. When you get a surgery these things matter because the patient is already emotional/scared, etc. However the surgeon (Dr Colen) and Anesthesiologist (the lady and man) were nice and helpful. The surgery came out successful.

This rehabilitation facility lost my mother's clothiig. Social worker didn't follow family's request fot home care service. Didn't respond to phone calls to correct her errors. I had to contact BCBSM of Michigan. and
