We spent our amazing "mini-moon" at the Inn at Black Star Farms. This was the first time we stayed at the Inn and we do plan to be back. The staff was friendly, David greeted us at check-in and check-out, great service all around from the front desk to the tasting room on property. Although we did not take advantage of all the wonderful amenities since our stay was short, we are looking forward to being back soon. I loved being able to see the horses from our room. We received a complimentary bottle of wine in our room but of course had to purchase a bottle of our favorite Late Harvest Riesling to share on our 1 year anniversary.

Check in was great with Mitchell who carried our heavy bags up the stairs. We ordered an artisan board and other treats that were promptly delivered to the room to accompany our complimentary wine. The room was Rigel, and it was perfect. Comfortable bed, nice bath and shower with soft robes. You stare at the stars on the ceiling as you fade off to sleep. The complimentary happy hour with wine and small plates was a great way to start the evening and engage with the staff and other guests. The complimentary breakfast was tasty with an option to dine anytime between 830&930a. Innkeepers Mitchell, Dave and Kim were kind and attentive and even remembered our names. The Polaris Bistro had great service and wood fired pizza with live music. The tasting room is lovely and lively. Service was great with Amy. Fireplace, cool gifts, great wine and other drink options. The fall colors were stunning. An added bonus was walking the grounds to say hello to the horses and goats and walk through the vines. It is also close to Suttons Bay and other towns for other dining options. We spent one day enjoying a guided wine tour in the area with Grand Traverse Tours. It was a perfect 3 day getaway.

Every moment of our stay was just perfect. We stayed here our wedding weekend (wedding not at BSF) and it was worth every penny. We stayed in the Diadem room and enjoyed the fireplace every night. I also really enjoyed the separate vanity perfect for getting ready for a night out. The bed was also so comfy and daily housekeeping of the room was a nice touch. And the food! Breakfast and hospitality hour included the most delicious, chef made food. We traveled from NM for our wedding and this stay, and we are so glad we did, largely in part to this great stay. We can’t wait to plan our 5 or 10 year anniversary trip back here. Thanks, Mitchell, for the hospitality!

This is a beautiful, top-notch place to go! First of all, the manager, David, was extremely friendly and helpful. He was willing to answer questions about the inn and the surrounding area, and was an all-around great guy! The included breakfast was not the usual "hotel" type: It was a breakfast like you'd find in a 5 star restaurant. The nightly 'happy hour' was a nice perk, too. And our room: Very clean, updated decor, and extremely comfortable. There's an on-site bistro, and a cool "tasting room" where you can 'taste' and buy wines. The surrounding 'grape growing'property is beautiful, too. This is just an amazing place and we'll be going back again.

The Inn at Black Star Farms is our home away from home! We felt so comfortable there. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The room (Capella) was lovely. Breakfast is fantastic. We enjoyed the hiking trails. They really go above and beyond to make you comfortable, providing a bottle of wine, cocktail hour if you wish, included breakfast, and coffee and tea all day. The location is great because you are close enough to Traverse City to enjoy that, but the quality of the Inn far exceeds other comparably priced hotels in the city. We will definitely be back, and hope to snowshoe the trails! Thank you David and Mitchell for everything!

This is a wonderful winery. The ambience and decor of the place is very classy, but comfortable. The service we received was very friendly and they were very helpful to any and all questions. We did not have any food there but the wine and beverages that we did have were really good! I would highly recommend doing the caramel apple mimosa. It is an apple flavored mimosa with caramel around the rim and it was delicious. The drive into the winery was scenic and you pass a wonderful, cascading Vineyard. There were other activities going on nearby. There is an eatery on the property, however, we did not partake as we had eaten prior. If you're looking for a new winery to go to, I would definitely recommend this place, if you order a flight of wine or bourbon you will get a keepsake glass to take home. There are other things that are available not listed on the flight menu. Definitely ask around as I missed a pumpkin old fashioned, which might happen before the end of the season!

Took my daughter for a weekend birthday celebration! It was outstanding! From Mitchell upon our arrival to David when we departed. Excellent service! Super clean room and wonderful food! Raclette dinner was delicious and there are no words to describe the awesome breakfast each morning! We felt as if we were the only guests there with such top notch service and attention to detail! Very intimate setting, but still very friendly people to converse with. You won't be disappointed! Every moment was delightful!

First the good: The property is beautiful and the rooms look very nice. Now the bad: 1) Fruit flies in the room. A lot of them. When we spoke to the manager, he said that there wasn't anything that they could do because there is a lot of fruit in the area. Really?? At $500.00 a night, you need to figure out a way to fix this problem, or at least warn your guests. We never would have stayed at the hotel if we knew that our room was going to be infested with bugs. 2) The hotel does not have any elevators and doesn't mention that on their website. If you can't climb stairs, don't stay at this hotel. 3)The rooms are noisy. The white sound machine should have been a tip-off. 4) Old tvs Luxury prices with subpar service.

A beautiful setting, good wine, and good snacks. My husband and I stopped at Black Star Farms on our way through to Traverse City. We were seated outside immediately on a Saturday around 4 PM. We each got a flight of wine - they have so many great wines to choose from! - and we also ordered a cheese dip & crackers to split (perfect pairing for the wine!). We had a great experience up until we needed to get the check. No one ever stopped by at our table again, so we had to go up to the bar to ask. Then, we waited another 10 minutes before going back up to the bar to ask again and they sent us inside. It was a strange experience being tossed around from the bar to the interior - definitely some work to do on the checkout process! After we checked out, we walked around the grounds a bit, looking at the horses and goats on-site. Overall, good spot, but service needs some work.

My husband and I spent the Labor Day weekend at Black Star Farms, we had an amazing time. David is wonderful, he tended to our every need and more. The grounds and the vineyard are spectacular and they're kept up beautifully. I especially loved the Happy hour with wine and appetizer and chatting with David. The wines are delicious. Michelle is a Great chef and I enjoyed all her meals. Our accomodations were very nice and I appreciated the personal welcome wine bottle. Definitely a place to visit.
