This is a gem and you mus try!! We had stopped in previously for a drink and popcorn perch— they are addictive. Our wait person Hannah was kind and fun and asked us to come back for Sunday family dinner. We just did and it was $15 for adults and something like $8 for kids —ARE YOU KIDDING!! They want it to be affordable and WOW - a guy playing guitar, fresh lightly battered cod with homemade tarter sauce, brisket -tender with nice BBQ sauce, penne pasta with a meaty sauce, fresh veggies, homemade real mashed potatoes, chicken bites for the kids, corn and tater tots and ALL you can EAT. Everything was beyond good and the staff-Madison and the mgr Becky were awesome. This is a must try and wonderful place we will be at frequently - would love to give it a 10

December 2023. We always enjoy going here for lunch or dinner when we're in town. Always great friendly service, great food & drinks. Locals are always friendly & nice to chat with. Great atmosphere! Thanks & Happy New Year! See y'all next time ?This trip, I had the 2 lb. Crab legs, very good! We had an order of the jumbo perch bites & a pulled pork sandwich that a local told us about last year & it was delicious!

The bartender today(12/29/23), piss poor service. We had more interaction with strangers sitting at the bar. The deviled eggs need to mention goat cheese, we cannot eat it. This experience has been subpar at best. Zero attention from the bar tender! Meh!

The Village Inn offered an outstanding Thanksgiving take-out dinner this year. The turkey was flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender. The mashed potatoes had a pleasing touch of garlic. Likewise, the green bean casserole was a cut above on account of the who mushrooms. The cranberry relish and gravy were mighty fine. As were the pumpkin pies slices from Chimoski Bakery. Put another way, the VI's turkey dinner was as good or better than any Thanksgiving dinner my mom cooked, I ate during a hitch in the Navy, and that was cooked up by my mother-in-law. Only my wife has done better.

Sports bar type atmosphere. Good place to watch a game and eat. Lively, but not so.loud that you couldn' talk. We had Blackened Shrimp Tacos, Fried Artichoke appetizer and Fried Walleye with fries. The tacos came with red and green sauce, black beans, pico de gallo, and a crema sauce. The Tortilla chips on the side were some of the best that I have ever had. Crunchy and salted perfectly. There were enough toppings for the tacos to dip the chips in. I had a blackberry lemonade. It was good, but a bit sweet. I just added water and it made a larger drink and tasted very good. Decent service, but there were staff standing around. I would have sent one or two home if I was the owner. It would help keep costs down.

Yay! Their new menu brought back their nachos which are truly the best! A couple other new menu additions I’m excited to try! The owner and his loyal employees put in a lot of hard work, during their two week closing, cleaning, painting and making minor changes to the interior. Definitely a welcoming establishment!!

Had lunch here a few weeks ago. I was with a few friends, some of which were not happy with the way the timing and order of the food that came out. However the waiter was a very nice young man and he had the owner come over to talk to us. The owner was very responsive of the concerns, checked on us a few times, and all the food was excellent! We all had different things and everyone loved the food.

We stopped at the Village Inn Grill for a mid-afternoon lunch and just had a good overall experience. My daughter and I chose citrus-grilled perch with smashed red potatoes and fresh vegetables, and my husband had a Reuben sandwich with tater tots—and a Cheboygan Brewing Company blood orange honey ale. We used vacation as an excuse and ended with chocolate lava cake and coffee. Good food, good beer and a good server can’t be beat on a rainy Michigan afternoon!

My companion and I both had the spinach and artichoke soup. It was creamy, delicious, and satisfying. We also shared the popcorn perch and the loaded tater tots. Both were outstanding, although I thought the tarter sauce was a bit sweet. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice saved it for me.The staff was friendly and attentive, the facilities were clean, and the atmosphere was casual and inviting. I was a bit disappointed in the fact of local wines being offered, but hardly worth knocking off points.I highly recommend the short drive up the Leelanau peninsula to this cozy pub.
