Store needs better management. Although it's the community preferred location. I will have to drive out further to other locations moving forward. This location never has stock. I've stopped in so many occasions for my favorite things and they are always out of stock. Even when it's emergent needs, I've learned never count on this location. I've also on multiple occasions purchased items that were perishable and expired and after the first bite I was gagging. I'm losing faith in this location.
There is a DG out in Pontiac on Perry St. That store is upkept well. The store is well merchandised and perishables are checked often.
The only positive I have is the staff is inviting.

Go to another dollar general. This one lies, and steal your paid for property. I've called and called. No answer ever. The last time I was in there my coupons from there app. None went thru. The rude little girl with the baby voice said she couldn't take the stuff off, before I paid for over$100. On stuff. This last trip this week. Again none of my clipped coupons on their app and it didn't take anything of my trip. About $100. This time. I got a white sports bra. And the girl working was awful and mad cause there was me and another lady in there before they close. I got 2 6pk of Sunkist that are stale and taste awful. I feel like she stole my bra. How was that the 1 thing they didn't give me or my boyfriend???

Gave the is place a chance and the staff os wonderful I know it can be hard to micromanage places like these sometimes but they all work hard here please be nice to the employees yall they work hard

I agree it is unusual their fluctuations in hours. Must not be staffed well enough. It’s not the employees faults. They have all been very sweet to me. I think they’re overworked. Usually there is just one cashier and she is always stocking in some aisle and If you don’t know to ring the bell then you just wait there. If you ring it she comes right away but still it’s crazy. One person doing the job of 3. As usual

This store was never great but it was okay. Now it’s complete garbage. Who knows what their hours are! I got there at 9am and the store was not open and waited ten minutes and called, nothing. There’s stock in every isle for more than a year. Looks like a trash heap 24/7. Called the manager who managed multiple stores and her response was “do you know anyone that wants a job?”. The managers at the store and the employees could care less about being there while on their phones (via the earphones they have). They got their Holiday stuff up one week before each holiday. There register machines are broken and are not likely to get fixed anytime soon! This store is a nightmare and has been like that for over a year.

The Sylvan Lake Dollar general is a s*** show. What a mess the whole store has become. Pricing is missing on so many items. The owner better get his act together or this store will go out of business. This used to be an orderly and clean store. It's sad what it has become.

I used to frequent this store but will never go back. Was browsing one day when I went to turn a circular display to see what was on the other side, and a poorly placed display that was leaning against it fell over. I immediately began picking up all of the small cosmetic brushes and other items that fell. I did not put everything back on the pegs, but did stack everything neatly. I was then on my way to the cash register to pay for the items in my basket, and let someone know what happened when a woman verbally accosted me. "You were just going to walk away and not say anything weren't you" she yelled. I turned around, looked at her and said I beg your pardon? She said that she "watched the whole thing, and that I had purposely destroyed her display and that I was walking away." I told her that I was on my way to the register to explain what happened, but she cut me off and complained that I only set the merchandise down instead of replacing all of the items on each individual peg. She then started telling other customers that I had "intentionally destroyed the display." She then told me not to come back and sarcastically wished me a blessed day. If she was watching and saw what happened she would have seen that it was an accident. As a store employee she should have come and asked what happened, and assisted with the clean up. Needless to say I told her that she could keep the items that I had planned on purchasing and that I would never return. Then I called Dollar General to relate my experience, and had to call back 2 more times, never got a call from anyone in corporate until the 5th call at which point I decided that there are plenty of other retailers and Dollar General, where most items are generally over a dollar, will never see my business again. Too bad, because it was convenient, but I will go out of my way rather than give Dollar General another cent of my money.

I really like this D.G.the store itself..its very convienant..they have everything here..but the manager.here is always always on her phone and SHE is theeee.most disrespectful manager I ever came across..and she says she can never give us change for a $100 for a $25 purchase...I will totally avoid her if she's working..she definitely HATES her job.booo hooo..but I am a serving customer who demands respect AT ALL cost..period..we pay your salary lady..I will reach out to corporate with my concern..she has chased many good employees and customers away..cause her stank attitude..hope all will complain.she does NOT deserve to be in a manager position.bottom totem pole..for her..

Shopping here is a pleasant experience each time. I shop at the store 5-6 times a week. The employees are nice and friendly.
