A fun afternoon learning about the history surrounding the Villages. It's haunted!

Shops and restaurants spread throughout the newly restored historic asylum campus and buildings. One of a kind! Must see! Great architecture!

I came here just today and I felt like the shops were VERY anti-Christian. I don't know bout you folks, but making your shop a ghost is so disrespectful to Jesus, who was the only ghost, by the way. The lighting in here was disgustin'. I could hear the hums of fluorescents and it was driving me crazy! I don't know how this place is still open. They need to put the workers in an insane asylum for tolerating this place for so long. LOL!

Great tour and even better tour guide.....John's knowledge and personality made the two-hour tour feel like 20 minutes! Highly recommend....

We've been wanting to do one of the tours for several years and finally had chance to book one during the holiday break. Tour was outstanding, Joe was our tour guide and did a great job explaining the history of not only the campus, but the type therapy applied and what day to day life was like at the hospital, very informative! Highly recommend this tour. I attached a photo taken from Cottage 40, one of the unrenovated buildings that is part of the tour.

Had breakfast at red spire it was extra good, since we had just done a round trip to elk rapids to visit a closed cafe on ames street. Benedict side of bacon. Delishhh.

Warm. Inviting. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the lack a diversity of products. Other than that, great place to visit.

More than a "tourist attraction," its home to unique shops and products - many featuring local goods. Season farmers markets feature fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, sauces, baked goods and more. Excellent restaurant choices include casual for lunch and upscale Italian for dinner. Note - parking at busy times can be tricky, but we've never failed to find a spot.

This place was amazing! The Commons is so beautifully restored and the variety of businesses establishing themselves there makes for such a unique experience. I hope the remaining building are invested into by other interesting businesses. I wish we would have time for a guided tour. We did speak to a very nice woman in a gift shop on the lower level who was so friendly and knowledgable about the history of the building. If you are in the area, it is worth stopping by to check out the campus.
