I walked in aimlessly because my dads really into train modeling. Mike was really friendly and helpful. This place is pretty big for a hobby store. It has a nice selection of everything you would need for your train modeling projects.

They have some pretty good models, diecast, and more, as well as ready to buy models

In the 90s this was a well stocked hobby store with a friendly staff. They even sold Traxxas RC cars. It's pretty depressing going in there now. The store has a tiny fraction of what it used to have. I suspect they can't afford inventory. I think their only chance to survive is get a business loan and stock the shelves and hire someone enthusiastic to run the store.

The guy running the place, really knows a lot of the intricacies of the hobby business, and what’s going on in the industry. He’s done some fixing up of some stuff for me and made some fair trades. The inventory is sometimes a little lackluster, but that’s just a bit of a gamble, sometimes some really cool stuff has been traded in.

I've stopped in this classic hobby shop many times, needing one thing or another for a model train set up my daughter and I are building together. The store is nicely stocked and they have a wide variety of items. Initially, I appreciated not being approached by the sales person as my daughter and I just enjoyed looking around and seeing all the great stuff they have in there. When I approached the sales person after looking around, he was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about model trains. He recommended many items and saved me a lot of money by suggesting alternatives to what I might have purchased without his input. I bought a significant amount of HO gauge track from this store and they gave me 10% off because I was buying so much. This is old time goodness and I really appreciate that we have this specialty store in such a small town. The sales people know me in the store now, but they always leave me alone when I first come in to let me shop and look around. I was surprised seeing some of the negative reviews for this store as my experience was so good. Maybe not being approached by a sales person is a good thing! At least for me it was. I would suggest just talking to the sales person when you are ready and I think you'll find them to be very welcoming and extremely helpful.

Had lots of HO scale items and other train scale. Was looking for dollhouse things though, which they did not have. Saw a dollhouse in the back of the store window so I was hopeful when we went around to the front.

Just like the old hobby shop my dad took me to when I was young. I haven't seen one like this in years. Also, there is an amazing ho scale train set up in the back of the store. (To turn the train on there is a light switch on the upper left side of the display window) The owner is a great man who loves to talk with and engage his customers. Enjoy!

Terrible customer service, low inventory. Made a quick stop by to pick up some track and supplies. Not once did someone ask if I needed help or acknowledge I was there. The one gentleman (if you could call him that) who was working there was very snippy and rude. This is why small shops like this close. I planned on purchasing more from them but not after today. It sad to see a local store with great potential circling the drain. Get better staff and more inventory.

Purely based on the customer service my son loves trains and was super excited to go in this store they did have a lot of nice setups and models and he was excited to see it all and nonstop saying look at this and look at that. The older gentleman working there didn't so much as great us when we walked in or he could have shared in a kids excitement and spoke about some of the setups or anything at all.

Not open on Sunday during the Traverse City Cherry Festival Air Show. Missed opportunity. Hours are kind of hit and miss. Selection of model kits is low. Good for train guys and if you need paint or supplies….if you can catch him open.

While I would agree that it may not be the warm welcome you might expect, I found the store nicely stocked with scenery items that was great to see. The prices were a tad more than some online stores but not having to pay shipping and knowing what you are getting made it will worth the couple extra bucks! Not a big selection for rolling stock or locomotives but those are easy too buy online. I recommend stopping in if you are in the area.

I've stopped in a number of times over the years and have never felt welcome as a customer, even though I've made purchases in the past. The selection of toy trains is very limited and the attitude of the owner causes me to walk by a train store without going in. That's a true rarity

Went to the store today at 330pm. Walked around the half empty store for 45 minutes looking to expand my 3 train sets (one was purchased from them 2 years ago.) An old bitter man was sitting at the counter reading never said hello or goodbye. Zero interaction with us. I wanted to shop local but with attitudes like his no wonder places like his go under. I drove an hour to shop there and decided not to spend my money there. If he is the owner he needs to sell the business and if he is an employee he needs to be fired. We were the only ones in the store.
