The inn was super cute and had everything needed for a quiet weekend at the lake. They provide a fire pit & outdoor furniture, watercraft, and a continental breakfast in the morning. Our room was very clean and put together, it felt very spacious compared to what I was expecting from the pictures online. The location is pretty remote, but it’s less than an hour drive up to Tahquamenon Falls & about a half an hour drive down to St. Ignace. The staff were super friendly and a pleasure to interact with. My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at the inn and it was a great experience, we will definitely be back. :)

What a great hidden gem. Found this place accidentally while planning a trip to the UP. What a great place. Definitely a lot of thought was put into it both the hotel and motel with a very fun vibe. It was like stepping back in time with a cool aesthetic. I'll definitely look for this place again, next time I'm passing through. I've not stayed at many places that made me do a little research the following day just to find out the history of the place and how it came to be - in this location. Whoever put this together, have an eye for detail and a lot of creative thought.

The property is beautiful, and the updated rooms are great. Loved using the kayaks and wish we had used the fire pit. This place will be perfect once the dining room opens.

My husband is always great at finding really special gems. Well he really out did himself with this one. It feels very out of the way and private but you really are not far from many things to see and do the UP.
I could sit on that stunning porch and rock or swing for days. We had a wonderful chat with the owners about the history of the lodge and it was absolutely fascinating. Would make a great book.
The restoration work they have done is just gorgeous. We had a king room facing the lake with a sitting room and a very luxurious bathroom. Included was a lovely continental breakfast with plenty to choose from.
We walked down to the private beach in the evening and later out on the dock. It’s a beautiful dark sky area for stargazing.
We will absolutely be back and looking forward to it.

This is one of our favorite stays. I can't say enough good things about the accommodations and the owners (& Jack🐶). We relaxed, met new friends at the bonfire, and left knowing that a return to Birch Lodge is in our future. Thank you to the owners who helped us celebrate our 10th anniversary and made us feel special.

The Birch Lodge is such a charming little resort! I've stayed here several times and will definitely be back. I love that they have a fire pit, outdoor games, canoes for guests to use, and a beautiful beach area, all in a quiet, peaceful setting. Perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle for a bit.

Every detail looked to be carefully planned and beautifully put together. Extremely peacefull experience ! The trail off of the front dock to the private beach area is just another beautiful touch!

So you think you're getting a beautiful room in the white lodge? Think again. There's a secondary building that they conveniently forget to mention in the ad. It resembles The BATES MOTEL!!! Crappy carpet, outdated paneling, beds with springs that poke into your back, no AC. These people are deceptive and crooked. Go elsewhere!!

Very cozy! Not your typical Holiday Inn, but that's the best part. A lot of calmness and beauty here.

What a treasure in the north country.
Glad I called directly to the resort, Jim was awesome to work with. Wish we had more time to visit the surrounding area.

We stayed at Birch Lodge one night last year as we traveled thru the area. We liked it so much, that this year we made it a destination. We spent three relaxing days there as we made day trips to Tahquamenon Falls and Sault Saint Marie. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and spacious. We plan on coming back next year.

I was on an extended road trip in late September 2024 and had this placed reserved for one night. Just needed a warm shower and a bed. I got only one of the two. Beautiful location however my room had no water pressure just a few minutes into my shower; just long enough to lather up. I had to rinse soap from my hair and body using a cup from the room to collect the trickle of ice cold water that was left coming from the tap. When I was finally finished I was so cold I was trembling. No phone in the room and too cold to venture outside after dark. The next morning, When I told the man working reception, his response was something like “I haven’t received any complaints”! No offer to check it or concern at all, let alone any offer of reimbursement, not even partial. He was uninterested in my very unpleasant experience. Too bad for me I suppose. I would not recommend this place as I don’t appreciate the lack of consideration.

My husband and I stayed here for our 14 year anniversary and it was just a joy. Jim the owner was a wonderful host and we enjoyed chatting with him about the history of the Inn and his upcoming bar off the lobby sitting area! I can’t wait to come back to enjoy this incredible space along with one of his many unique gin cocktails!
The Inn is a mix of charm from days gone by and sophisticated lodge living. The mix is modern, stylish and comfortable! Everything is thoughtfully put together, curated over time with a passion of things new and old.
The grounds are lovely, rocking chairs on the large porch, adirondack chairs by the lake, a cozy fire pit, trails and non-motorized water crafts to enjoy.
The inn offers a small gift shop with unique finds, a game cabinet, (which was so much fun in the evening!) a vintage jukebox, and numerous cozy corners to sit and relax, read or enjoy shared stories of the days adventures with other guests.
We definitely recommend staying here. I have a feeling you’ll leave writing a review similar to this one - raving about all the special details that make Birch Lodge simply incredible.
