I am using Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union for a business line of credit. It has taken over 7 months and cost over $7,000 in closing fees. Communication was extremely poor from the beginning - during the entire duration not a single request for a call was answered and all requests for a call back went unanswered from Ellie. Instead she would email but often not answer my questions. It was requested of me to contact the title company as they were incapable of making that happen. I was told it was under "final review" multiple times only to have more information requested of me. The last 3 months was simply waiting for them to work with the title company. I tried using the chat feature to receive the phone number of a supervisor and the chat representative refused to give me a number (24 minutes wasted). When I finally found John McCurdy and left him a voicemail (twice), he didn't call back either. As it stands I have questions about the settlement statement and neither Ellie or John have called back despite multiple requests. I expected better communication and less fees from a credit union.

My experience with the underwriters was quite disappointing. They denied a loan application solely based on the fact that the vehicle in question had been sold through an insurance auction and they presumed it had a salvage title when it did not. The CARFAX showed no prior accidents and they did not provide me with the opportunity to present evidence that the vehicle's title was in fact clean. The vehicle was a 1-owner car with its original clean title when initially bought new. The branch service specialist Angelo also failed to communicate this with the dealership but rather instantly shut down the deal.

I was helping my college senior start becoming more financially independent. The big bank we belong to really wasn't doing anything for her and were being difficult about getting a credit card. Wow what a different experience we got at MSGCU. John, the branch manager, gave her wonderful, thoughtful and personalized guidance. He helped her put her money into accounts that would help it grow. The mobile app is easy for her to do all her banking and she has access to 30,000 ATMs across the country. Wonderful service AND she walked out with a credit card. Highly recommend.

Do not get loan through them. They have been nothing but difficult from the start. And still months later we still have issues. Having to go back to the bank multiple times. And then they get thier members wrong. And that's literally thier job is with numbers.

Look at the reviews for the Troy location vs the Livonia location. Leadership needs to relocate some of the higher ups over to Troy to get this branch in order! My home was paid for! We decided to take equity out of the home for repairs, but ONLY if we were able to pay our note twice a month AND there was no early pay off penalty. The loan process in itself was daunting. Training definitely needs to be a focus at this branch. I began paying my mortgage every two weeks to eventually be told I couldn't do that and my note would auto pull for the entire amount monthly. I expressed my concerned as I was VERY clear of my intentions when getting the loan on how I would be paying it off. I was informed their system doesn't allow you to make more than one payment and that they'd listen to the tape and get back with me. That never happened. I finally get a letter in the mail this month saying my mortgage payment hadn't been made, when they'd just told me it was auto drafted. I have a 100% on time payment history with any creditor! So just imagine how out done I was getting a letter from my banking institution, where the funds are more than available stating my mortgage wasn't paid. MSGCU has been such a disappointment! Getting a call back or requesting to speak with leadership is a waste of your time. It will never happen. As soon as rates lower, I'm Gone! They've loss my business.

I have been a member of this credit union since 1972 and have never had a bad experience. Tellers have always been friendly and efficient and I have only had one glitch with my money (a small amount) which was corrected when I noticed it.

This credit union has become complicated to use! It's not convenient to use online or any other way. It used to be a lot better but now it too big to care. I'm not using them anymore!

We have had several home loans, this by far is the worst bank l ever had dealt with. So far it's taken over 3-months for our home loan. They have no " Sense of urgency" to complete the loan. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, a constant repeat of information that literally wears you down. My wife has been a member Of MSGCU for years, l can' imagine why, l prefer "Chase".

Worst bank of all time. I highly suggest to find a different bank if you bank with MSGU. On 4 separate times I’ve made a deposit. My money never got deposited through the atm and it took days for them to give it back to me. Also at times they would take money out of my savings for no reason.

UPDATE: I did receive a call from the Troy manager who was amazing. He quickly helped me with my problem and was very apologetic for the service I received over the phone. People like Brent are the reason I love credit unions. I just wish every employee held themselves to his standards!!!!!!! I am changing my review to reflect 3 stars because of him!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. They set a daily spending limit, which I did not authorize, and shut down my account during the holiday shopping season! I stood at Costco with a cart full of groceries while talking on the phone trying to get them to lift the daily spending limit-they would not lift it. What an embarrassing event to stay on hold and argue with MSGCU employees for half of an hour while others are able to purchase their groceries. Let me be clear, I had sufficient funds, but they set a spending limit. How can you tell me that I can't use my money? If it's a security concern, I answered your litany of questions. To suspend someone's account when they have more than sufficient funds is wrong. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, and switching banks.
