Our group of 8 had a great time on the trail. My horse Annie was so sweet and the staff was friendly.

After our nightmare of a trail ride, I heard the only adult instructor say how he knew the day was doomed to go bad, yet they still took us out anyways.
Horses who were not fully trained were given to us. Telly tried to roll on my friend. The blind horse went off the trail. Diva tried to throw another rider off. Our group was put in with other groups to make a large group of 12 traveling on a narrow, unkept path with only two young girls in front and back. They were crying from stress at the end of the ride (I don't blame them, they were put in a bad situation by adults). Telly still somehow went on the trail with us after the roll and became unridable. An older woman got hit by a low hanging branch and fell off her horse. The lack of emergency response was baffling and really upset her daughter. They had us all turn around. Those with unridable horses had to walk their horses the 30 minutes back down the narrow path, either getting stepped on by their horse or getting sliced up by the harsh brush. Yes, even the older woman who hit her head and fell had to walk her horse. My horse was kicked in the face twice.
After being put in this scary situation, no refund was given. We were told the owners were out of town at a concert and their 4 best horses were out. I see this as a company who puts profit over safety as I have read similar reviews. We were told it was our fault for keeping the horses too close together but there was little to no instruction before we took off in a rush because they were behind, even when they knew unexperienced riders were there. Super disappointing and I cannot believe they let children on these horses and trails.

My girlfriend and I took a trip to see the fall colors last weekend and wanted to go horseback riding while we were up north. She is an experienced rider, I am not. Everything about
Maple Ridge was wonderful. The booking was easy to do online and when I had a question, I called and got an answer right away. The owner Penny made sure we were all comfortable on our horses and even hand picked them based on each of our experience level. We were taught the basics of riding and took a lovely trek through the woods. If you are looking for an enjoyable, laid back, horseback riding experience, I’d highly recommend Maple Ridge. It’s a small, family owned facility run by great people. We couldn’t be happier!

Great place to go riding. Facilities are nice and clean, their horses are great as well. We went on a 2 hour ride. Guide was fantastic, made sure we were comfortable at all times and gave us the option to go at our pace. Explored a little off the main roads and trails, made a nice run in the pasture. All around great experience and would absolutely go back. This place absolutely gets my recommendation! A++

We went for our first ride with Maple Ridge Stables earlier this week. My boyfriend has only ridden once before while I have been riding for a few years now and the staff picked out perfect horses for our experience. The trails were beautiful and the horses were clearly happy and well cared for. We had the BEST time on our hour and a half ride, and our guide was so friendly and very fun to ride with and talk to. We absolutely recommend this stable to anyone in the area looking for a fun day activity! We will definitely be returning, thank you so much for making our vacation that much more enjoyable!

If you are a beginner rider, DO NOT come to this place. I had 6 people in my group two of us own horses and are experienced the other 4 were beginners. Our guide gave us 0 instructions and relied on a child to teach the beginners how to steer, stop, and ride these horses. On top of that three of the six horses we were on were misbehaving. One was a kicker which literally makes no sense to include a trail horse with beginners who don’t know how to steer. The other one had an issue bolting, the child who was helping us said she was scared of this horse and for valid reasons!! The second our group turned around this horse, Diva, started shaking her head and throwing it to get above the bit. I had 0 control over this green horse and had to yell at the tour guide that I was getting off and he could ride her back home. He wasn’t very happy about this but im not paying $50 to train your green horses to trail ride that is literally insane. If I didn’t know what I was doing and pulled on this horses face she could have reared and flipped. Beginner riders should absolutely not come here. We are so lucky no one got hurt from this experience. Or if you do come here do not ride Gabe or Diva.

This is the third consecutive year that we have ridden at Maple Ridge Stables and the professionalism, location, and experience are outstanding. My 8-year-old daughter is allowed to ride independently which she absolutely loves and the staff are incredibly kind and nurturing. The prices for an hour ride are unbeatable! We love supporting a family-owned business and would encourage anyone who is in the area to visit them!
