I just picked up a 2003 GMC Envoy that had been used for towing a landscaping companies lawn mowers around. Car is in great shape, engine runs great, low mileage so dropping a little $$$ into rebuilding the front end was a no brainer IF I found a trustworthy mechanic to do the job. I got 2-3 estimates before my landlord suggested Chris. My landlord is a classic car buff and has been working with Chris @ Thayer for over 20 years.The tip more than paid off as not only did Chris put a plan together get my car back on the road, he also fixed three other issues (radiator/brakes/fuel filter) for the price that others wanted to just fix the front end - parts, labor, all included.Chris even took the extra step to research how to fix the issue of the 'dead' instrument panel which is a common soldering joint problem with many of the GM's of the time (2003-2005) - FOR HALF the price I saw everywhere else.That's the next step in the plan, I have a new and hopefully life long mechanic I can trust and is also a very honest, polite, real person to work with.Go to Thayer and work with Chris!!!-AndyK

my drivers side power window on my Chevy Cruze stopped functioning . I had experience with other shops in the area but they were too busy. So I lef t my car with Chris at thayer. Work was completed in a timely manner at a fair price and they gave a discount for cash.

The car repair expert that is honest, upfront with diagnosis (good or bad), My 2005 Ford Freestar van was a great vehicle for the 5 years that owned it, Chris was referred by my neighbor who spoke very highly as to his abilities to make required repairs especially when more than one was needed. Thanks to Chris Thayer, I enjoyed my van right up till it's final days of Michigan weather torment. ... Talked to him over the phone about some damage. We discussed sending him pictures to get an estimate. He said "Ill take a look at the pictures but ill probably have to see it in person." Three weeks later and absolutely no response. Message was also viewed by him after the first week or two.

This is a fantastic auto service ship, they were a big help in figuring out why my cadillac was shaking so bad at high speeds. He helped me out at a great cost and only took a day to figure out my issue. He will be seeing me again and be seeing family/ friends. Had my Veloster Turbo with Chris after it went into limp mode on the freeway. Every diagnostic step he started with the cheapest thing first rather than jumping into the most expensive. He kept in contact while I waited for parts from Korea, and did everything possibly in the meantime to get it running smooth again. Very reasonable pricing, very good experience overall.

I took my truck in for a steering problem and he not only fixed it for a reasonable price but also did a quality inspection for free. I will definitely go back to him for any other repair. Very happy with Chris and his expertise.
