After a nasty fight, I had to rush one of my dogs to Dr.Urban. This was 20 minutes prior to closing. I called and explained to the receptionist the situation and that I was on the way, and Dr.Urban stayed open for me to get my dog help. I am a new patient and had never been to this office before. If that doesn't say that Dr. Urban truly cares about animals, I don't know what does! With my dog covered head to toe in mud from her scuffle, he was more than welcoming to help her. His sense of humor and thorough explanation was very comforting. Even with a big injury my dog was still wagging her tail and was very comfortable with Dr.Urban. As a 25 year old, price point is a big factor for me. I knew I could not afford thousands of dollars in vet bills. The prices Dr.Urban gave me for various medications, pain/antibiotic shots, exams, surgery, and tests was incredible. Very reasonable. He worked with me on cash pricing as well which was very appreciated. He got me in the next day after hours to perform a surgery on her to get her put back together. He has called to check on her many times outside of regular hours. My dog is doing great, she is back to her normal self. I cannot thank Dr.Urban enough for his help!

Around November 2023, my previously healthy, 8 year old male cat began behaving strangely and became more withdrawn. We also noticed he was not using his litter box as often as he normally did. We were concerned, so we took him to Eastside Veterinary Hospital for care. The vet performed a physical and took abdominal X-rays (which he read as normal). His working diagnosis was a urinary blockage. He initially recommended a Urethrostomy, and my cat was kept overnight for observation. They placed a urinary catheter and gave him some fluids. The next day, the vet told us surgery was NOT needed as my cat appeared to be doing better and the blockage was cleared. He came home with us and was behaving near his baseline again.Around mid December however, my cat started displaying similar symptoms as previously mentioned (withdrawn, not using litter box, etc) so we took him back to Eastside. The vet again thought it was another blockage and recommended we go through with the initial surgery he deferred last time. We found a local surgeon and took my cat in for an evaluation. The surgeon ordered Xrays which showed severe hydronephrosis. Moreover, blood work showed that my cat was suffering from fulminant kidney failure. The best option to prevent further pain and suffering was to put him down. The surgeon also told us this was likely a chronic issue that could have been avoided if my cat received adequate care early in his disease presentation. Obviously, this is a tragedy, and my family is very distraught over the loss. Despite this, part of me cannot help but put some of the blame on Eastside. Had this issue been correctly identified and treated at our first encounter, our cat may still be alive today. I gain nothing by leaving this review. I only posted to share my experience so that others do not go through the same tragedy we experienced. To add insult to injury, the vet told me that next time, I should get a “girl cat because they don’t have these issues” which is a bit inappropriate considering what we just went through.

Our dogs and cats are doctor Urban’s patients since early 2000s. He's always very knowledgeable and helpful. He explains everything and makes everything clear. We never had any problems. Dr. Urban is a little bit old school and has specific sense of humor, but I would never say he’s rude. After a short experience with another animal hospital (when Dr. Urban was sick and the office was closed) I can tell that the Eastside Veterinary Hospital prices are really reasonable.

We had to take my puppy there kinda as a minor emergency.... the doctor was very nice and even accepted us as a walk-in on a Saturday morning. I was reading the reviews and people were complaining that they don't take Care Credit. They have a sign although it's small, but it says they do not take care of credit. I will definitely be taking my puppy there for the follow-up and if I lived closer it would be a continuous visit for regular appointments. Unfortunately I live too far away. The only bad thing that I can say is that they do have an upcharge of 4% if you use your credit card. And they made sure we're willing to work with me if I wanted to go get cash I just didn't feel like leaving and going to do that. If you ever need a veterinary services for your dog or cat I would definitely check them out!

Here's my experience, honest & truthful. Before making the appointment, I called and spoke with receptionist. There was obviously a language barrier, but who cares- right. I proceed with the call and ask the receptionist if they accept care credit, in which she replies a very clear "yes." I said awesome, and continued to make an appointment. She was nice and got me in same day. I get to the appointment, and was immediately placed in the exam room. In the room hung a sign all about care credit. That was a nice reassurance for me. Everything was smooth the doctor is very nice- but another language barrier, but that's ok. He did his best to explain things, and tried understanding our concerns. My dogs itchy, red, torn up... he does it every year around the same time. He said its fleas, I wasn't and still am not convinced it is fleas. The Dr was gentle with my dog, and combed him to check for fleas. He placed the dog's hairs, and dander under a light- and decides he does not see any fleas or flea dirt... But, he still thought fleas was the cause of concern. I didn't argue, he's the Dr. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. He injected my dog with an antibiotic, and an anti-inflammatory shot. He prescribed a lengthy list of what I think to be an unnecessary flea treatment for my dog that did and does not have fleas! He was tested elsewhere soon after! However when it came time to pay, I let them know I have care credit. She said huh, what. I calmy explained that I spoke to a receptionist who advised "yes" they take it. She replied: "no, we don't take that." I immediately start crying, becuase I don't have a way to pay. The Dr came over saying something like care credit broke their machine he doesn't want to take it. It expressed it is his business and he will do it his way. I tried being reasonable and explaining I was told they accept it, and I feel set up. He said no medications if I can't pay amd moved them further from me. I went out to the car to get my mom, who went to sit down with dog while I paid. She came in and explained how there was a sign in the exam room that all of sudden had disappeared. Waiting by the front desk we notice another number that read: care credit provider line. The Dr soon pulled us into another room to basically over power everything I had to say. I was expressing I wouldn't be in this situation if the receptionist would have just said they didn't take it. He kept reiterating it was his business and he will do his business his way. He wanted to argue instead of resolve. I asked him why there was a care credit provider line number at the receptionsts desk. He asked "whrere?" I went to show him and he told me to stay in the room. I did not stay in that room I followed him, so i could see they weren't gonna make that one disappear too. The receptionist said "not suppose to be there," and crossed it off, like that fixed it. He said becuase I was a new patient I have to pay out of pocket upfront if I want the medicine, while getting loud with me. (Of course I got loud back too.) After I realized they were not gonna apologize for mis-informing me, validating my feelings, or do anything- like make payment arrangements. I simply said "f*** your little establishment" and left. Never again. I'm stressed, my dogs stressed, my mom's stressed. Which I would have listened to the reviews!!! Wish this ended differently!
