Gave this place two tries in the past year, looking for some vintage hardware/parts. The first time, I found a machine I was interested in. Owner told me it would have to be tested first. Okay, whatever. I ask how much he wanted for it, so he hops on ebay and immediately finds the most expensive listing he can find. $3500 for a 25 year old computer that's just going to be scrapped otherwise? No thanks.Gave them another shot a few months later. Found more items I was interested in, and once again the owner is TERRIFIED to let me buy or inspect any of this stuff. Everything vintage is either not for sale or "needs to be tested". I said fine, gave my contact information, and waited around a month to hear back. I called two or three times to see if there were any updates and I was pretty much blown off each time. Last time I tried calling I was told they had bought parts to test the stuff. Seriously? I have no doubt in my mind I wouldve been charged extra for whatever they bought to test this stuff, and they didn't even check with me. I just hung up. Never coming here again, dealing with the owner about the vintage hardware is a serious pain. It's not worth it, DO NOT COME HERE IF YOURE LOOKING FOR VINTAGE HARDWARE

Located behind the Ace hardware, this place is literally a hidden gem. Free electronics recycling, affordable refurbished electronics, and a very friendly owner. I cannot recommend it enough.

I transitioned from a customer to a volunteer for this charity. After some time spent in the shop, I decided this would be a valuable learning experience. After one year in Ron's volunteer program, I became the go-to person for the refurbished servers in the store. This has served me well, as I am now in my medical residency program, where I am putting that knowledge to use in building up my program's IT infrastructure and research capabilities by helping to advise our department and lab on which servers and other equipment will best fit their needs and "future proof" for experiments down the road.Fantastic charity that does good for the community and volunteers! Pay them a visit today!

I was able to drop off my old laptop and a bunch of outdated cables, cords, keyboard, camera stuff, etc, without being charged! Geek squad would have charged me to take my laptop, and would not have taken the other stuff. I LOVE that I have a place to take my electronics for recycling instead of tossing in the trash, and filling the landfills with hazardous materials. They have electronics for sale too, I was only there to drop off though.Thank you so much Silicon Alley!

An excellent local (Metro Detroit) resource for donating unwanted electronics and/or buying refurbished laptops, computers, etc. Ron the proprietor is enthusiastic, helpful, and devoted to lessening the environmental impact of our many used electronics. I was grateful to find this place that would appreciate both my defective Intel 7th gen i7-7700 from 2018 as well as my obsolete Sony Vaio from 2004. Feel glad I can also bring my various other unused electronics parts here in the future. I think Silicon Alley Recyclers provides a valuable service in the form of giving new life to used electronics. Happy to have found them by doing an internet search for places near me to donate computers.

I've bought several computers over the years from this place, and have always been delighted with my purchase. I highly recommend it if you want a good solid laptop or tower, but you don't really need a new one.
