About Drayton Plains Nature Center
Drayton Plains Nature Center is a beautiful, peaceful place tucked away from busy life, perfect for a quiet walk to unwind and reconnect with nature. The 138-acre property, nearly a mile in length, features long, well-kept trails winding through woods, wetlands, open meadows, and past a creek and ponds. It is a great place for an easy walk through the woods, offering a lovely stroll and a woodsy vibe not too far from home. Visitors can see deer, turtles, ducks, geese, and all kinds of birds. The old fish hatchery ponds are a cool part of the history. It is never too crowded, making it ideal for a mental reset, a family outing, or a walk with dogs. The small Interpretive Building has information about different animals and is open seasonally. The grounds are open dawn to dusk year-round. This hidden gem is a favorite local spot and is highly recommended. Please note, the center does not accept injured or abandoned wildlife.
While I love coming here to enjoy the trail, the amount of unleashed dogs I've experienced on this trail is insane. So just be prepared for that.
