This company did a good job with the first project they did, not so good with the second one. Because of the good job they did with my first project, I hired them for the second job without getting competitive quotes. The second time I hired them to pave the approach to my driveway, repair a low spot, pave the apron in front of my garage, and pave a walkway along the side of my garage. The quote was to excavate these areas and put down a 6" base of crushed limestone, then pave it with asphalt. The first two items they did a good job, but the part in front of my garage and the walkway next to my garage is terrible. They came out and remove the concrete in front of the garage and put down crushed limestone for the base. This base was graded by eyesight, no levels or straight edges were use. This base was driven on with our cars and some delivery trucks for 6 weeks before they came out to pave it.They paved it with asphalt, again without the aid of a straight edge. They did have a guy kicking around a 3-4 foot level as they were paving it. So the finished apron and walkway is not graded properly. Every time it rains, I am left with puddles of water, some take 3-4 days to dry up. They didn't excacate the walkway, they just paved over some old paver base that was there. They never checked the grade of this base and the result is, the walkway along side of the garage drains towards the building. So for over $9K, I expected it to not only be graded properly, but also be flat. It's now winter and the water has nowhere to darin with all the snow on the ground. At night the puddles freeze into little ice ponds.I sent an email to them adressing this issue, along with the photos below, I never got a response.

Hodgins Aspahlt out of West Branch has been in business for many many years and you can't survive that long if it's not done right. Hodgins Asphalt actually installed my driveway about 20-24 years ago and it held up beautifully and I have to say how impressed I am with this company with the work they performed! Everything was flawlessly done from cutting away the cracked asphalt which was amazingly straight and beautiful, to laying down the gravel base and compacted, then to applying all the hot asphalt. The workers also graded and smoothed my road in front of the driveway. I am so blessed to have a crew of workers that know how to do the job. Very well done, thank you for making my driveway great again! My husband and I just had our road graded and compacted with limestone. We couldn’t be happier and no more holes in the road!

It was really interesting watching the well oiled machine that is Donnie and his crew. They amazed me at their precision work, they are so adept at the use of their machines and seamlessly coordinating their tasks. The office staff was also very competent and caring. They created a beautiful driveway for me.Service: Driveway replacement

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND WORK! We had them grade and pave our driveway. They did a fabulous job with the blacktop and the finish at the edges. We highly recommend them for any blacktop you need. The crew was respectful and courteous and they did a great job of cleaning up.Services: Excavation & grading

For the pre-discussion we had, detailing our needs, one important one was ensuring the sides of our very long driveway was packed/bermed/supported so the new thick asphalting would not break off and crack on each side. We expected some form of filler dirt be included in the proposal. It wasn't. We ordered 10 yards of dirt from Greaves. The guys agreed to put it down the driveway. Where the asphalt ended, and concrete began, the concrete is badly spotted now with asphalt spattering and looks terrible. 3 large styrofoam cups left in the lawn, AND our lawn chewed up badly with tracks from driving all over it with big equipment. We worked out there 3 days, cultivating the tracks down, AND had to lay 50 lbs. of grass seed where there used to be lawn. We paid $10,000 and expected more pride in work and for our property.Service: Asphalt paving & repair

I'm Sorry to read a negative review on this company, but I know for a fact they do great work. They installed my long driveway, no problems and no hiccups. The owner is out working in the field with his crew, he does not slack. Get a free quote, you won't be disappointed.

Great staff and friendly. They showed up on time and did my drive fast and with very little mess. Looks great and was a great bargain. Should have done it years ago. Where the truck tore up my yard the owner came back and fixed. Highly recomend.
