Well, as expected, it happened. This store is closing and likely by the time your read this, closed.
Original review posted August 2024:
I've been shopping at Big Lots stores since they were called 'Odd-Lots' decades ago. They typically offered overstock items at low prices and continued to do so when they transitioned to the Big Lots name.
However, in recent years the prices have increased dramatically, so much so that they are often higher than Meijer/Target/Kroger/etc. but with much more limited selection of lesser quality products. Not a good formula for success.
Given the decline in value, I pretty much stopped shopping them and apparently a lot of other people have as well because they closed 52 stores in 2023 and are in the process of closing at least another 144 this year. Further, they stated that a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing might be imminent.
The one extra star is for nostalgia and the good folks who will lose their jobs due to corporate mismanagement.
Fortunately, Ollie's does a good job of fulfilling Odd/Big Lots original mission: offering name brand products at closeout prices.
