Unpleasant Experience at Michael Bates ChevroletI'm typically a very mellow easy going reviewer on here. I try my best to find the highlights of a place and give them 5 stars (probably more frequently than I should.) However My experience at Michael Bates Chevrolet is a justified 1 Star Review.I want to share my disappointment with the service I received at Michael Bates Chevrolet when I took my car in for repairs. I chose the dealership thinking it would be a reliable option.My appointment in July started off on the wrong foot. Even though I scheduled it for when the service department opened, I had to wait an hour because of an unexpected meeting with all the technicians. This was inconvenient, especially since I had taken time off work.Things got worse when I left my car for repairs. After their inspection, I got a call not just about the needed repair but also a long list of extra maintenance tasks, costing over $1,000. This included unnecessary things like a flush and replacing wiper blades that didn't actually need replacing.The wiper blade situation made it even more frustrating. When I questioned the need for new blades, the technician quickly changed their tune when I showed proof that I had just replaced them. They offered a free oil change as an apology, but it didn't really make up for the confusion.Grand total 4262.23The final problem came during a routine oil change on 2-1-24. The technician found a damaged oil plug and said it was likely from the previous service at Michael Bates Chevrolet. They did manage to get it off but provided me with an itemized list to show the cost of the plug and provided it in a baggie as you can see from the pictures. When I called the dealership during the oil change, they told me to bring it up there and they'll take care of it.I promptly headed that way to get reimbursed and when I arrived at the location I was greeted by the same service technician from 6 months ago. He promptly offered a free oil change, but I hastily turned it down as my oil has already been taken care of, and I would not want service from them again. The service technician and I had a conversation while the other employee tried to see if they could get approval for a cashout for the cost of the oil plug.During our brief conversation a few points were brought up as he looked through my service record and recollected that I was the wiper blade guy. He applogized about the confusion in the past and said that they have to recommend items and the final decision is in the customers hands. I did let him know I fully understand that but, they should only be suggesting items that are actually necessary as anyone coming to get their vehicle serviced does not understand enough about the repair in the first place to make a informed decision. This practice is predatory at best.From a consumer perspective they pitch items that are not needed, phrase it in a way that sounds like a repair is necessary, and claim their multipoint inspection is why these repairs are needed.If I was a skeptic it would appear that they were angry they got caught on pushing items, offered a free oil job, and then torqued down the plug.Consumers BEWARE!!!!

I bought a vehicle from this one year ago and it has a bad brake system that I just found out about I talked to Diane the general manager and Sherry the main supervisor they are both mega liars and did nothing to try to help me with anything or to try and resolve this problem the service company overlooked this issue before I left the lot they did not do their job properly I would not recommend this dealership to anyone not even if they were giving away cars I would not recommend this dealership to my enemies. They suck!

If we could give them zero stars we would. They refuse to show any cost breakdowns for the payments. They also decided to ghost us? Awful customer service. Went to a different dealership 2 days later and got our cars for cheaper, no down payment, and they were transparent through the whole process. Definitely recommend going anywhere else!

I want everyone to know how my last name is p r u e i t t bought a 2020 tracks at this dealer that had bad brake system in less then 3000 Miles Diane the general manager would not even offer to help or try and help me resolve this problem, Sherry also would not return my calls after promising to try and figure this out I would not recommend this dealership to anyone not even my enemy!

I purchased a brand new Tahoe in May of 2022. My salesman Joe Flood did a good job and I have no problem with him, but I have a very big issue with Michael Bates Chevrolet service department in Woodhaven, Michigan. I was missing my Park assist chip for 1and 1/2 years. So when G.M. Finally notified me that the chip was now available at dealerships I made an appointment on the Bates website last week to bring my vehicle in today a week later. On the appointment it specifically said that I was going to bring it in for the chip, oil change, tire rotation per G.M. Recommendation and a safety recall. The young lady in the service department told me that the work would take a minimum of several hours. My appointment was for 10:00am and I went to the waiting room. At 11:30am the young lady came and got me and said that my Tahoe was ready. I thought that was quick. Reason it was so quick (Hour and a half) was because they only changed my oil!!! The service lady said that they would have to order my part, even though they should have ordered it a week prior because I was specific about that. Obviously they don't look on their own website!!! They didn't take care of my safety recall nor did they rotate my tires! I drove 46 miles one way for a DAMN OIL CHANGE!!!! That's 92 miles round trip. This is totally unacceptable, period!!!! I wonder if G.M. Knows about the poorest service department I have ever encountered. I will sure let them know.

If I could give them a zero I would. My car was hit when it was parked. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate. My husband took in my car for the estimate and the guy was rude. He told him to go sit and wait and never returned. A lady came and asked if anyone has helped him and he explained the situation. The guy that was rude told my husband he would have to leave the car for two weeks for an estimate. This is not what I was told over the phone. On the phone they said to bring it in and I could wait while they did the estimate.Who could possibly leave a car for two weeks for and estimate plus more time for the repairs.

Horrible dealership I scheduled an appointment for Monday they told me my truck would only be there for an hour but instead they kept for a week and didn't even inspect it. I went up there because I was tired of waiting for my service advisor to call me . when I get there I'm greeted by the general manager and she accused me of flashing a gun at the collision manager all because I told both of them that their customer service skills were terrible and I stand on that her name is Diane and his name is John both are Karen's it's cool though they just lost a custome. Diane called the cops because i told her I was scared for my life and I didn't want to be in a closed room with 2 white women who is accusing me of something that I didn't do. Cops came nothing happened ill be reporting this to Micheal Bates

This is a tremendously hassle free dealership. There customer service is phenomenal. I bought both my teenage daughters vehicles from this dealer and the vehicles are running just fine. My hats off to the owner Mr Bates. The salesperson Dave was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. My daughters love their vehicles. The 172 point inspection put me and my wife’s mind at ease. I wish I could give 6 stars. Very refreshing to find a dealership that will work with you.

I had visited another dealer And after getting all of my information I still had an issue that needed to be resolved which Which they did not offer any assistance with that and the amount of money down was a little more than I wanted to put down. After hearing some deals at Michael Bates Chevrolet I ended up calling and Diane answered the phone she was more than helpful listen to what was going got me pricing and the great customer service That would eventually lead me to Leasing my first car and over 17 years. This was a big deal for me and a big purchase I would recommend them anytime the customer service was exceptional from beginning to end.

Austin Moore is phenomenal! Came in Monday looking at a Trailblazer and this guy worked overtime to ensure I could drive away in it. I highly recommend him.
