I used to enjoy stoping in to Midwest Antiques from time to time and browse through the neat items that Norma Nelson has on display from some 35 consigned dealers, occasionally finding a treasure to purchase. That was until today. Albert Lea's historic downtown hosts numerous events throughout the year, and is home to over two dozen business, including Midwest Antiques. All the businesses share public parking spaces with a 2 hours limit in the front. I was parked in one such space, for 1 hour and 53 minutes according to my dashcam. When I returned to my vehicle, Norma left a nasty note on my vehicle, so I went in to the store to discuss. I asked to speak to the person who left the note on my vehicle, and without any provocation she lit right into me, including yelling about how the "church a**holes are ruining it for everyone..!" (there is a church nearby that shares the parking). I kept as calm as I could, but by now I was HOT (and it showed) when I reminded her that this was DOWNTOWN PUBLIC PARKING and I could park anywhere for any reason, She continued to slam her hand on the counter and called me a M***ER F**KER and accused me of parking over the 2 hour limit! What Albert Lea does NOT need is business owners treating customers like this! I hope that ALL of Albert Lea's downtown business owners see this review, and give Norma a call letting her know how much they appreciate how she treats their customers! I also hope that the 35 or so consigners also see this and also let her know how much they appreciate the lost revenue that she has caused! You see, Norma, everyone who walks into your store should be treated as a CUSTOMER, and any event that is taking place nearby is attracting PEOPLE that just might stop in to say hi and check out what you have going on. I WAS planning on stopping in after lunch to browse around, but you changed that intention pretty quick.

Such a fun place to visit if you live here or passing by! Plenty of unique items, a lot of history can also be learned here. There's also a basement with more items. Some prices seem high compared to the quality though.

Stopped by on a whim after picking up a dresser in town. This is how antique stores should all be. Good assortment, and I really liked all the old phones and radios. There was even a small set of old test equipment, like an old tv signal analyzer/generator, which I ended up taking home with me. There’s some really neat stuff here.

Great prices and many vendors have sales during our October visit. The basement is 50% off marked items or make an offer. Very nice, pleasant owner that is generous and kind. Be sure to leave a tip for her fishing as night crawlers are spendy.
