About Runestone Museum Foundation

The Runestone Museum Foundation is a fun and interactive destination for all ages. It is a quite interesting and thought-provoking museum with very interesting history. The layout takes visitors through time in the area, where many historical facts and events are well done. The museum is centered around the Runestone and does an amazing job educating visitors about its deep and complex history in a way beginners can understand. It takes a very scientific and historical viewpoint, presenting evidence for and against the stone's authenticity while discussing the research done on it. The museum also tells other histories, with a large part of the exhibit pertaining to Native Americans, their culture, and the native animals of the region. It does a great job giving a ton of information and highlighting different cultures. Outside, there are extra exhibits including a little "town" of buildings and a Viking ship, which are really fun to explore and provide context to the city of Alexandria. It is a great place for families and kids, who absolutely love the exhibits. It is an interesting place to stop and a visit that one will not regret.
