I used to bank (checking and savings) with minnco years ago. When I tried to buy my first used car, they were a nightmare to try and get a loan through. I ended up getting it elsewhere with no cosigner like they were requiring (among other things) even though I had been with them for years at the time. I ended up closing my checking and going with the credit union that gave me the loan.Today, I found out that they closed out my savings and credit card accounts almost a year ago without notice because of inactivity. Though I do get why since I didn't use the card, I find it odd they didn't even notify me and they took the money (though only a small amount to keep the account open) from my savings as a closure fee. One would think they would have to notify you if they decide to close your account, no matter the reason. Especially if they will be taking money from one of the accounts.I would definitely not recommend Minnco to anyone. I remember having many other issues with them that I haven't run into since switching to another credit union. Save yourself the headache.

They are by far the worst financial institution I've ever worked with. they don't honor civil court documents and your divorce papers mean nothing. They will penalize you for ex spouse debt no problem even when it wasn't acquired by you. messed up my checks multiple times in all the years I worked with them. They also were hacked once and I lost like 80$ on that. To close my ex's account they charged me $400 of extra fees for him being late.

I filed a complaint with the MN Attorney General's Office against Minnco because they closed my accounts without notice during the time my business was shut down for covid, due to a 99 cent charge didn't clear. They refused to fix their issues and put negative marks on my record so I couldn't open an account with any other bank. After the AG got involved, they removed the negative marks, but still made me pay $60 before they would allow me to close my account. I paid it gladly, so I could be done with them for good. I would never open another account with them.

I used this credit the other day as part of my shared branch. Very welcoming and took care of me. The branch manager is awesome, creates great energy in the lobby and his interactions with customers. Don't listen to these lame 1 star reviews and their hurt feelings.

As always. Terrible customer service. Always making up some new rule. They might want to actually train their employees and get them on the same page.

Working with Minnco initially seemed great for my motorcycle loan, good interest rate and pretty minimal downpayment. However, having banked with them for a year and a half now and them having "system issues" with their partner insurance company now telling them I owe them almost $2,000 more than I should. I've been trying to get this issue resolved and they tell me it's been fixed but it's been months and it hasn't been fixed and I've been trying to be cooperative by having to pay inflated payment amount from what they should be, having to pay extra payments and unjustified late fees. It's been a total nightmare.

I've dealt with several credit unions and local banks, and Minnco is BY FAR the worst credit union I have ever encountered. And not just one branch, literally all of them. I would go into detail over everything they've gotten wrong in the last 3 years of dealing with them, but I dont have a week to type out all of their mistakes. Just take my advice and stay far away from MinnCo Credit Union. it will save you money. time, and energy. I highly recommend Anoka Hennepin Credit Union or Central Credit Union instead.

Notice how they have such low reviews? Its because they suck. Terrible "customer service" one sweet lady works in the drive thru who's great, everyone else is terrible. Rude nasty uncaring bitches.
