Stopped in for breakfast. Cafe was clean and basic .Super busy due to Memorial weekend. We expected a delay in service but we didn't expect the waitress - short dark hair name may have been Marcy - to stomp around grumbling and calling people rude. She was barking every minute we were there and she wasn't even our waitress. Very unhappy person. Kitchen did great keeping up and the food was good but there was too much chaos caused by "Marcy" to enjoy our meal. She needs to hush up. Keep her thoughts to herself.

The restaurant serves excellent breakfast and lunch. Staff is warm and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Loved this place for steady and tasty home cooked meals. The gun shop is a convenient store fully equipped with fish gear and bait, snack shop, drinks. It should be referred to as more than just gun shop. Loved this place.

This community diner is awesome, particularly for breakfast. Great people, ample servings and that home town feel. Backus isn't a metropolis, and we love taking a break from cooking for a great meal at reasonable prices.

November 12 2019 Stopped in tonight for dinner (at 630pm), they close at 8, and the waitstaff was indifferent to more customers (they had one table of 5). We sat ourselves, and she came over with menus. She then said, "the cook isnt making anything on page 1 or 3, no dinners or any breakfast. (This is a "breakfast" all day cafe mind you.) Then I asked what IS she making? Basically just page 2, the lunches. So, if you are interested in lower quality food, unenthusiastic waitstaff and hit or miss menu items- this is the place for you. But if you resent spending 9$ for lunch items done mediocre- maybe a trip to the grocery store 3 minutes away is a better bet. :/ ... (items ordered: hamburger & fries $9, chicken strip basket $8, egg salad with chips $6, kids chicken nugget & fries $5, one coffee & one soda- bill was 35$)

This review for restaurant side only. Good food at extremely affordable prices. I had 2 slices of very thick, tender, and decently flavorful french toast for $5. Nothing over $10 on the menu. Coffee was good, straight ahead cuppa Joe. Caffeine dressed down in its "out in the woods diner" version. Not fancy, not expensive. Premises were clean & quiet for weekday breakfast conversation. Waitress was friendly and efficient, conscientiously keeping the coffee mugs topped up. They get bonus points for adverting hunting rifle optics on the cash register counter, which also proffered several calibers of ammo in case you needed some on your way out the door. These folks are another fine north woods high value eatery!!! So beat your way to Backus and breakfast at The Corner Store.
