My husband and I stayed at Cove point for a relaxing getaway trip.Pros: The views are spectacular and the lodge with its big fireplace is very cozy. They offer a lot in the lobby such as coloring supplies such as crayons, colored pencils, watercolor paints, and coloring pages. They have ingredients for smores and they offer coffee, cocoa, apple cider, and tea in the lobby. There are also cookies, movies and board games to use, snow shoes, fat tire bikes, and travel guides. Breakfast was good. Santa Herb was a very nice staff member. The pool and hot tub seemed clean and the hotel was kept Warman cozy. There is good hiking around the cove and the campfire ring and fish house (a place to relax and read or play games) were so cute.Cons: We had dirty clothes left frpm a previous guest in a drawer in our room and the room could have used better lighting as I had to move my suitcase onto the bed to see inside it. They are charge an expensive resort fee in top of room fees so the amenities are not really free. Rooms are left propped open after they are cleaned so when we first arrived at our room it was open and anyone could have been inside.Overall, a great experience!Rooms: Our room wasn't fully cleaned and we found the last guests dirty laundry in a drawer in the room.Nearby activities: SnowshoeingSafety: Anyone can go in and out of any door to the hotel at any time. They also left all unoccupied guest rooms open which was unsafe to me.Walkability: We walked along the highway to Beaver Bay and it was a great walk.Food & drinks: Breakfast was good, dinner was expensive. Not many good restaurants nearby. We tried Zoe's Pizza in Beaver Bay and it was terrible. Black Woods in Two Harbors was good and My Sisters Place in Grand Marais was fantastic.Noteworthy details: Beautiful views!

Beautiful and serene stay on Lake Superior. We stayed in the main lodge and had an amazing view of the sunset over the water. Outdoor fire by the fish shack was nice and the smell of burning wood seemed to envelop the entire property. (which we loved) Quick hike to nearby point was fun. Staff was very helpful and kind. We would definitely stay here again. Shout out to Joe who was exceptionally friendly and helpful as well.

We just changed our reservation from a king to a 3 bedroom bunk cottage. Very accommodating staff. We've stayed here before and enjoyed it very much.

Not for snowmobile people or trailers. Front desk texting and not doing job. Acted pissed to check me in. Been staying here since 1995 when it opened. Will not be back. Place is beat up and worn down. 1/20/2024

Cove Point Lodge has been a go-to for myWife and I for years. I love visiting during any season, but in my opinion winter is especially cozy. The Lake Superior shoreline right outside of the lodge is gorgeous. I recommend walking out to the end of Cove Point for sunrise and/or sunset. Of course, Beaver Bay offers many wonderful outdoor attractions within short driving distance too. The restaurant within the lodge serves delicious food - I highly recommend dinner there. I love spending my evenings in the lobby in front of the large wood burning fireplace with a book in hand, especially during a snow storm. I’ve had some great conversations with other guests in front of the fireplace too. They also have games and books available, making the lobby a fun place to hang out. If you want some privacy, they offer rooms with gas fireplaces and every single room has window views of Lake Superior. You really can’t go wrong with Cove Point Lodge as a getaway destination.Rooms: Private outdoor patio. Gas fireplace. Wood paneling and warm tones throughout. Best part is every single room has views looking over Lake Superior. My only critique is the cheap and tacky artwork they hang on the walls.Nearby activities: Plenty of outdoor attractions within short driving distance.Walkability: Cove Point Lodge is tucked away from the main road, which is great for privacy, but not so great if you’re wanting to walk to other nearby attractions. Walkability isn’t why I visit Cove Point Lodge though.Food & drinks: They serve Scandinavian inspired breakfast. They have great dinner entrees. They also have a bar.Noteworthy details: Cozy main lobby with large wood burning fireplace is my favorite part about Cove Point Lodge. They serve great food. Every single guest room has a view of Lake Superior.

What a great place to stay on the north shore. The staff is absolutely fantastic. You should be aware though that if you stay in the Fjords 3-bedroom, you are typically up the hill and not on the lake. Overall, already experience.

The room itself was fairly cozy and I'd say somewhat "rustic," though the amenities were fine. I stayed in the Queen Balcony room with a view of Superior. Lovely going to bed to the sound of the waves crashing. If I had a criticism, the balcony was not very private as there were many other balconies. It didn't matter much to me personally as I was solo. There are nice picnic tables and benches as well as a small cove you can walk around with a rocky gravel beach. If you're up for more hiking there are a lot of trails you can hop on.Staff was fantastic and helpful, appreciated the maps and guides for nearby activities. The restaurant was fine, about what you'd expect from a place like this. There is a 1.5 mile spur trail that connects with the main part of the Superior Hiking Trail. Also this is right on the Gitchi-Gami State Trail, a paved bike trail.Cost for one night stay was very affordable, actually cheaper than a generic hotel in Duluth.Nearby activities: I stayed here before making a trip on the Superior Hiking Trail. I didn't start at this trailhead, but there is a 1.5 mile spur trail that connects with the main part of the SHT (fair warning: the while 1.5 miles is uphill). Amazing views from up on the ridge. This is also right on the Gitchi-Gami State Trail, a paved bike trail.

We had a great stay! Wonderful view of Superior from our 3rd floor unit. Fell asleep to the sound of the waves lapping against the rocky shore. Enjoyed the breakfasts and dinner overlooking the lake. Very clean and updated. They are at least one of the best on the shore. They also gave us a jump start so we could go to town amd replace our battery. Saved us a lot of time and money. So kind. Pool was nice temp. too!

Beautiful place. So close to the lake. Great breakfast. Only issue was the smoke alarm went off at 2 am. They said they'd been having trouble with it in our room and two other rooms. Why would they rent it out then?

Everytime my family and I visit, we are greeted with smiles and fantastic service. The rooms are always clean, with great views and the amenities (s’mores, cookies, board games, fire, etc) of staying in the lodge make the stay even better! The breakfast is always great! The restaurant has great service, a smaller but delicious choice option!

This place is very relaxing. The rooms have a magnificent view. We were very comfortable there. And Katie the manager was very customer oriented and professional when working to give us a room the last minute. The restaurant that's attached to the lodge is a plus along with the bar. We hope to be back soon!!

This is such a beautiful setting! The rooms are nice and equipped with a nice size fridge and microwave! Bonus! The beds are one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in.Front desk staff was very helpful. They have a on site restaurant, which is very convenient! You can makes s'mores in the evening with all supplies complimentary. Lots of games and movies to watch in the room, since every room has a DVD player. Will definitely go back!

We've gone 2 years now and still can't get enough of this place. The location is convenient for many of the best waterfalls on the North Shore. The lodge grounds have a lot to offer for exploring and time on lake Superior. The staff is super friendly and every night is s'mores night!Nearby activities: There are more than 30 things to do within a 30 minute drive north or south of Cove Point Lodge ?
