Visited the store today specifically to find new walking/running shoes. As I was browsing an employee kept asking me if I needed help - only a minute apart each time, which was quite distracting. Eventually, I found a shoe I was interested in but there was only one in the box so I went to search for the associate who kept offering help earlier. I asked her where I could find the other shoe and she told me she would have to go and get it from the back. I asked why, since this was in clearance and most other boxes contained both shoes. She said it's so people don't steal them! She then asks me if I want her to get the other shoe or just try on the one. I had already asked to try both, so she disappeared for a while and came back with the pair. I was sitting down trying on another pair at the time and she stood right in front of me and watched me constantly. I felt so uncomfortable that I injuries on one shoe and decided not to bother with them - it was weird having her stare at me - I felt she thought I might running the store with them! I found a different pair to buy and went to pay. There was only one cashier and a reasonably long line was forming. When it was my turn I asked about the return policy, but was told she didn't really know - she said maybe 60 days or so (I checked their website and it's 90 days). Finally, I see my transaction and total on the payment machine, and there are multiple options for tip amounts, like you see in restaurants. This is a first for me, being asked for a tip in a shoe store! To get beyond this screen you had to press 'cancel' multiple times until it finally moved past the tip options. Not a good experience at all - won't be shopping there again.

Biggest selection of shoes at the MOA!
I appreciate that DSW marks unusually large and small sizes. As someone who needs a woman's size 11 or 11.5 with a brother that wears a men's 15, I know that many brands just don't make that size. So DSW marking these sizes with a visible sticker makes it much easier for me to breeze past brands that don't cater to us and find those that do.
This location's staff are generally helpful and are willing to check other locations for a color / size if they are out of it.
And be sure to check out their huge clearance section at the back wall. Up to 70% off and organized by size!

We went to Mall of America July 14th through the 19th of this year. I was looking for wide shoes had a hard time finding any so we went into DSW. I found some off the bat, Skechers brand. One of the workers came up to me and gave me a bag to put them in while I was still looking. I couldn't find a whole lot of wide shoes. While I was looking my sugar drops, I'm a diabetic so my husband went and got a lemonade for me to bring my sugar back up. And then I found a pair shoes that I liked but it didn't have it in wide. All the signs on the shots set to ask associate for help if your size wasn't on the That's what we did. We did have to find associate to check to see if they had any wide in the back. All he did was check on his phone on the website if you had any. I felt like we were inconvenience him. Other associates were just walking around looking like they were busy zoning here and there cuz there was other people looking for some help and didn't get any. Plus when she was looking the shoes that was under the display shoes was not even the right they were in the wrong spot. He had to open up several pair to be able to try to find the right shoe to scan.So we decided just to get the one pair and leave and when we were checking out before I even got to the checkout the lady already had an attitude. I put the bag up on the counter she grabbed it from me and slammed it down. Then she took out the box of shoes and slammed that down. She was very rough with the shoes. She was very rude with attitude. She didn't want to be there, she was mad she had to help me check out. Just the way she handled the shoes, every action she did to handle the shoes put it in a bag she did it very forcefully. I never seen a cashier slammed the shoe in the bag, handing it roughly. It wasn't a very good experience for paying $75 for a pair of shoes. Everybody that we've met in Minnesota was nice friendly until we came to DSW.

So I was in the MOA store for about 10 minutes looking for some shoes I wanted. I finally found 2 employees in the middle of the store seemingly having a fun joke about something together, but I had to interrupt their good time to ask if they carried the "Crown Victor" shoes I was looking for. The guy told me he'd never heard of 'em. I explained that I just saw them at the Burnsville store, but they didn't have my size so they sent me over here. He was very insistent, stating "I'm the stock manager, I think I'd know if we carried those shoes!" Hence, I got out my phone and realized my ever-so-slight error in that it is "Crown Vintage" shoes I was looking for, not Crown Victor. He then points to the corner of the store and tells me "those are in an aisle over there or if not there, 2 aisles away...in that area" ...which was unclear, so I'm just thinking "what the heck is with this guy?"
Excuse me but first of all, just because I didn't get the name of the shoes EXACTLY right, to act like you have no idea what I'm talking about just really gets to me. The names are so close, if you really were this genius that you act like, you should've figured it out right away. But let's just say you forgot the names of your shoes: to still be so lazy as to then just shoe me off (pun intended) into aisles across the store to search around some more when I have clearly asked you for help (especially after having just put up with your guessing game) is purely unacceptable from a customer service standpoint. I made his lazy asterisk take me over to the correct aisle anyways, but I shouldn't have had to. I doubt they train their employees to be that lazy, but perhaps I am assuming too much. Anyways, that was super lame and left me with a bad opinion of DSW!

Customer service could have been better. One cashier on Saturday during the holiday season, the rest of the staff standing around talking? Only when a customer complained did they open another cashier.
