I have had ECE for approximately 9 years. I have have only had 2 maybe 3 outages in the area that I can remember. With the longest only being about 6 hours, but there was a MAJOR ice storm and lots of lines down. So that it totally understandable. During that storm my neighbors down the road that had a different company was out for over 18 hours. Great service and glad to have ECE as my power company.

Cooperative may be in the name, but they are not.We just bought a house- even though we are in an area that can be serviced by 3 providers, ECE holds a monopoly. They run a "soft" credit check, then charge a deposit of previous owners HIGHEST bill, doubled. They will hold that deposit for a year- not using it for your bill that whole time- then apply it the second year. They assure you they are a owner-run co-op, but with a board that decides dividend payouts at the end of the year, based on your KW usage. (A business using 500kw gets paid before a residential home which uses 5kw for example [ other actual numbers, just illustration]). Don't worry though, the board will decide what amount you receive and no, it doesn't come in the form of an actual dividend paid to you- they will apply it to your next year's bill.Going somewhere else is not an option- they own the lines at the road, forcing you to use them as your carrier..

I had just moved too Cambridge Mn. I ordered a new account. I paid the 1st bill. ECE sent a disconnect notes that same week. Then they put a past account with a balance on my bill . I called and complained. The lady that took care of it was out until Mon . I spoke with a different lady and told her I’d tried paying my account not the previous lady amount. It wouldn’t let me spilt it. I told her it was due. I didn’t want a late fee. The lady said don’t worry about it. Until I spoke with the lady that takes care of it. I was waiting to call her . In between waiting I called the bank to make sure I had no late . They ended up taking the full amount over 200. I’m on a budget and that was my food allowance. They didn’t even care . So I ended up with no food for two and a half weeks. I lost weight and I got really sick. I have lupus and have to take medication with food. So I ended up eating 3 peanuts four times a day with my meds. Nothing was resolved. I’m ready for a class action lawsuit if anyone wants to be in it.

Have had great service for the last 45 yrs. Do not agree with many of the bad reviews. They have always been quick to respond to any of our needs

Worst electric company. Charging next month's bill on top of the current bill. Barely using electricity and the bill is $500+ every month for whatever reason. If I can change electric company, I would.

I was a Connexus Energy costumer, and they did not have all the additional fees as ECE does. I am not a fan of these community-based companies that end up just charging you more. Often they are just a middleman and don't have the resources as the larger providers.

Avoid this company like the plague if you can! The billing system and notification system is a buggy mess, customer support was rude and far from helpful!

I have enjoyed ECE service for over 20 years. I have always had good service and they have responded quickly whenever there was an issue. The company does really try to go the extra step with customers and employees from my experience.

ECE is pretty darned reliable in my book. Storms come and a tree falls on lines and that caused the outage. They are prompt when this happens. Keep your trees away from their lines, is the answer. anyway, keep up the nice work, ECE. 60 cycles rules!

Powers been out since 4:45 am.... Yet I see newly effected, recent outages, repaired first, before mine. What? The farthest north customer gets screwed? NO SURPRISE... First reported should be first repaired.

A few years ago, ECE raised their 'cost of basic service' from under $20 per month to $30.25. That is approximately a 57% increase. I called and asked how their expenses to keep up their lines, transformers, etc. could go up that much year over year. That was before this year's rampant inflation. I got some explanation about the costs of maintaining their infrastructure, but no justification about the drastic increase. ECE is a monopoly and you have no other choices beside them. Wish I could raise my wage from my employer 57% and my employer couldn't do anything about it!

$30 a month for services on your of state tax and usage. Seems steep.
