The Stonehearth team was pleasant and responsive, but the project suffered from poor subcontractor workmanship, limited onsite supervision from Stonehearth, and avoidable damage to our home and yard. Problems we reported were ultimately resolved satisfactorily after we identified them.
Stonehearth completed new siding and roofing on our 1905 home in 2024. The work began in mid-October and finished roughly 10 weeks later. We were told the project would start the week of Oct. 14, but the actual start date was not confirmed until the morning crews arrived. This left us little time to prepare the rooms where windows and drywall were being replaced. Stonehearth helped move some furniture, which we appreciated.
Several subcontractors did poor work on roofing, siding, and drywall. Drywall work around new windows was uneven and visibly bowed. We were initially told this was “normal for an old house,” even though the wall had been flat before. When Stonehearth visually inspected it, they agreed the work was not correct and found that the plaster and lath had not been accounted for. The new drywall was a different thickness from the existing wall, and that difference was not addressed. The drywall was redone and the bow was removed, but the area had not been sealed off during either attempt, leaving rooms very dusty.
When the original siding was removed, we learned there was a second layer underneath, and Stonehearth clearly explained the added cost. However, contractors used improper tools that damaged our original 100-year-old window sills. The first repair attempt caused the sills to slope inward toward the house, creating a moisture risk. After multiple rounds, the fix was only acceptable because the sills were covered in aluminum.
Workmanship and care around the property were inconsistent. Siding was cut in our front yard without ground protection. Our lawn was covered in sawdust and died over the winter, requiring reseeding at our own expense. Nail cleanup took repeated reminders. Neighboring homes having similar work done by another company did not face these issues.
Onsite supervision from Stonehearth was minimal despite being included in the contract. Most problems were found only after we raised them. Workers arrived unpredictably, including late at night to retrieve materials. A portable restroom included in our contract never arrived, and workers urinated beside our garage instead. I did not notice this until the project was nearly complete.
Much of the work continued into freezing December weather, often with only two workers onsite who were not dressed for the conditions.
During roofing, I saw a ladder catch on shingles and lift a large section, which raised concerns about installation quality. We asked for roof photos and were told a drone would be used, but no photos were provided.
On the positive side, the gutter installation went smoothly.
Based on our experience, the end product is visually fine, but the process involved too many avoidable issues and too little onsite supervision from Stonehearth.

-Second Review after deck project (below)
Back again with a review of the GREAT work by Stonehearth. We worked with Stonehearth on a project to rebuild our deck and once again, everything turn out GREAT! We got multiple bids and learned a lot along the way about decks but went with Stonehearth because on more than one visit they presented multiple options, brought out a carpenter to help us make decisions and were very responsive to texts, calls and emails. The work itself started as scheduled and went as planned. Pat & Mark who did the work are terrific guys and tolerated me poking my head around the corner to see what was going on. We also chose Stonehearth because we worked with them before on our kitchen remodel so we knew they would give us a fair bid and the work would be excellent. All turned out to be true. I would have hesitation recommending Stonehearth to family, friends or anyone.
-Original Review after Kitchen Remodel (below)
We hired StoneHearth for our kitchen remodeling project and everything turned out GREAT! My wife and I had been talking and planning this project for a couple of years so had a lot of specific goals including sourcing the wood for the cabinets and floor from a friend of ours who has a farm and sawmill. The people at StoneHearth listened to our plans & goals and didn’t immediately say “no” but said they would see what could be done. They listened to our ideas and did not say ‘it can’t be done or that’s too hard’. In the end StoneHearth was the only contractor who was willing to include our wood in the project as well as the other aspects of our plan. During the project all the milestones were met on time and as specified. StoneHearth has access to excellent tradesmen who did great work. Everything fits, functions and looks terrific. Communication and coordination was masterfully managed via email, text and a contractor website where everyone could review milestones, emails, photos and documents. True transparency! This is the first project where I can say that everything completed as specified, on schedule and we were still good friends when we reached the finish line. I give StoneHearth my highest recommendation. They are true professions!

Possible Fraud, is my OPINION. A premium price for Bogey Golf! Left nails in boards exposed where my child walks, garbage during the project didn't make it to the cans, paint cans left on stairs, demands for money are aggressive. Paid their bill, said they would order a large window when 1/2 project was paid. You guessed it, NO WINDOW ORDERED. I BELIEVE, I don't know much lol, after having owned my own professional business for more than 20 years, but I believe this teeters on fraud and breach contract after they pulled up when I complained about their premium prices that do not correspond to process to product especially considering their aggressive payment schedules. They will over charge and under-deliver. Seriously, nails in boards where my child plays? HMMM...not safe. Garbage in bags left next a door when the garbage can is 15 feet from where they left it? C'mon man, really? yeah don't hire them. There are definitely nicer more professional more flexible people out there in my opinion. Still waiting on the large window I ordered...tick tock goes the clock before they are SUED for not delivering products I ORDERED!

I highly recommend Stonehearth for your remodeling projects. We used them to frame in a new bathroom. They were efficient. Greg, the owner, also walked me through everything I would need during this project. He directed me in the right direction for things we were doing ourselves. They cared about helping us.

I have been overall very happy from start to finish with my experience with Stonehearth Remodeling. My designer had recommended them to me because she had been pleased with their work on past projects.
I was amazed that sub-contractors came out before I even agreed to a contract to look at and give bids on the project. The contract was all laid out in great detail with what was to be done, what materials to be used and costs for each phase of my 3 bathroom remodel and whole house update. I was happy with the communications along the way. Sub-contractors were good and some exceptionally good. Had a lot of tile work done and Luke did a beautiful job.
Any concerns were addressed quickly and possibly the very next day. Also issues that have appeared since completion have been addressed quickly. They always have a "can do" attitude and I never felt like I had a stupid request or question. If something couldn't be done or work I always understood why because we would talk it over
Half way through the project an exterior water leak was discovered and the source was determined. Immediately a roofer, a stucco company, a window manufacturer and the drywall wall/paint contractor was called to get bids on the "oops" that was discovered. A change order had to be worked up so that I knew what was going to be involved. I actually had a couple change orders along the way, each handled very professionally and the costs involved workout completely before work began on them.
My remodel turned out beautifully and I would definitely recommend Stonehearth Remodeling.
