“We were looking for a mid-week getaway—somewhere about two hours from home, on a lake, where we could simply slow down and reset. After talking with the front desk staff, Ruttger’s felt like the perfect choice, especially since we had stayed here 33 years ago on our honeymoon!

After arriving, we discovered that some of the information we had been given wasn’t quite accurate. We were disappointed, but determined to make the best of our stay.

Then we met Butch and Jacob, members of the maintenance staff, while they were doing some work around our cabin. After learning about a few of the miscommunications and expectations we’d had, they absolutely went above and beyond to make our stay special. We never asked them to do anything—they simply saw an opportunity to help and kept showing up for us. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality completely changed our experience. They made us feel cared for and turned what could have been a disappointing getaway into an absolutely amazing one.

Butch and Jacob are wonderful examples of what great hospitality looks like, and Ruttger’s is very fortunate to have them. Thank you both for making our stay so memorable!

And a special shout-out to Jodi, the gardener. The beautiful flower beds and plantings make the outdoor spaces feel incredibly welcoming. Her hard work definitely doesn’t go unnoticed!

“Incredible value! I think i paid just over 100 for a king size bed with couch and a mini kitchen. Room is old but was well maintained and neat but also what you would expect for a budget hotel. Front of house was very nice and welcoming. Would stay again anytime!!!!!”

“We have been going to this resort since Rick & Babs took it over. We have enjoyed it very much. We stay in one of the cabins. The cabins sit right close to the water with stairs down to the dock. You have a beautiful view of the lake right from the cabin. Cabins are always clean and you can park car next to cabin. There is a big flat open area to park your trailer/boat. Boat ramp has just the right slope to put your boat in. Water is quite clear.We were deeply sorry to hear of the passing of one of the owners - Babs. She will be missed by all. Our hearts go out to the family.”
