I emailed Lonny we had a minor upstairs toilet leak. Lonny was here early the next morning to diagnose and prepare for the bathroom repairs. Wow, what a quick response! The leak was wetting our kitchen ceiling.
Paul installed a temporary fix the next day, then came back, figured out corrections for the plumbing issues and with just a bit of plumber help, completed all the necessary bathroom repairs. Paul also put down new flooring. The finished bathroom looks really great.

We've been working with Heartwood Construction for about four years now. When we purchased our house it was in foreclosure status and a ton of work was needed to make it a comfortable home. Heartwood was not only very accommodating to our requests, but they also gave proper suggestions when it was very evident that I barely knew anything about construction. Apparently, there were many small DIY "projects" that the previous owner decided to take on that were clearly "learning through doing".Throughout the years, Heartwood Construction has:- Removed a sliding glass door (that was installed by cutting into the header beam, causing the roof to bow and a fight just to open the door) and replaced it with two large egress windows along with the rest of the wall and repaired the header- Installed T&G wooden siding on the wall surrounding the egress windows- Replaced all of the plumbing with PEX tubing, prevents pipes from freezing- Spray-foamed insulation the crawlspace, additionally prevents frozen pipes- Removed or arranged the removal of various small structures and large items that were abandoned in our woods before we moved in.- Replaced the air conditioner unit and fixed the central air system- Installed a window frame and found and fixed a major leak in the roof when doing so, no problems since- Installed an ADA compliant ramp and large deck on the front of the house- Arranged plumbers to replace the toilets and a couple faucets- Arranged electricians to make sure all of the outlets are grounded- Installed brand new siding, which included moving the entire back deck and replaced any rotten wood from said deck- Arranged the installation of a home standby generator- A bunch of other things I'm probably forgettingWe've been extremely satisfied with all of Heartwood Construction's hard work and professional expertise. Lonny Anderson is very knowledgeable about his trade and will not hesitate to give you an honest and thorough assessment. He's also quite skilled at seeing what the client has envisioned through the scope of practicality first, then aesthetic. When we've had some pressing matters, Lonny came to the house to assess and got one of his workers to fix the issue within a few hours of discovering the initial problem.I've also hired him to help out my dad with several plumbing/electrician jobs, and requests their aide at the first sign of potential home repair.The staff that works under Lonny are also very courteous and accommodating to the clients and their schedules. Working both inside and outside of the house, they do their best to not be a nuisance to the clients and their neighbors.As far as general pricing goes, they are fair and reasonable for the amount of high-quality work that you can look forward to. You get what you pay for. Since we bought the place in 2018, our property value has almost tripled in value from Heartwood's work, upon general assessment.We have several more projects lined up with them for the next couple of years and will continue to promote them in passing conversation. If anyone needs work done around their house, from small but difficult things to large projects with multiple parts, I highly suggest Heartwood Construction as their go-to.

Our dental office has used Heartwood Construction on 3 separate occasions ranging from a small remodel of an operatory to a complete remodel of our Proctor location. They were honest, did quality work, were accommodating to our schedule, and worked hard to allow us to keep working during two of the projects. I would highly reccomend them for your next project.

If we could give 6 stars to Heartwood Construction, we would. Lonny is an exceptional project manager. His communication skills are top-notch. He is organized, consistent, detailed, timely, proactive, and has a positive attitude and great sense of humor. We were so grateful for his deep knowledge of both the construction industry and the insurance process, as well as his calm demeanor, during our really stressful house fire event. We can’t speak highly enough of his approach. And his crew, especially Mike and Al, did quality work, had great attention to details, were respectful of our space, were excellent problem-solvers, and were just delightful to visit with during the project. We always felt confident that they were doing what was best for our home and not cutting corners. We used Heartwood to replace a door leading from the garage into the house. The project was started sooner than I expected, the guys came over and within a half day it was completed and looked great. When the door was unboxed at my house, there was a very small dent in the front panel. I was fine with it, but Lonny wasn't. He ordered a new door slab, and within days it was replaced. His carpenters were very kind and professional. They all do wonderful work. Heartwood has done a lot of work at our house over the years and we will continue to use them in the future. Heartwood remodeled the kitchen in our 1870's-built house in Duluth. The kitchen was part of a poorly-built addition that was crooked and needed a lot of structural work. Now it is not only a beautiful and functional kitchen, but also the most square and level room in our house. Lonny communicated well at every step of the process, presented us with options when things didn't go exactly as planned, and really listened to our needs and desired use of the space. We used Heartwood for an upstairs remodel in the spring of 2020 to add spray foam insulation to the top floor our 80 year old house to address our chronic ice dam and water intrusion problems. The project had it's share of surprises and unexpected issues, but none were the fault of Heartwood. Lonny was always courteous and professional in helping us through the process, respecting our decisions and providing guidance and recommendations when necessary. I work on the commercial construction side of the building industry and approached the project with an intention to keep the contractor accountable, but it turned out to be unnecessary. Heartwood did a great job and the upstairs is much warmer and cozier this winter compared to last.Services: Drywall repair

Being fairly new to the Duluth area we were unfamiliar with any of the companies that do remodeling. Fortunately, we followed a family recommendation and contacted Heartwood Construction for an estimate. Now, we are more than pleased to also recommend Heartwood. From the moment we met Grant, our project manager, we were comfortable that he understood exactly what our vision for a kitchen remodel was. We also appreciated his clarifying questions and suggestions before any work was started. Once work started we were equally impressed with Mike and Nate who did the heavy lifting and coordinated with electric, painting, plumbing and flooring people. Lonny and the rest of the Heartwood crew were, and continue to be, fantastic.
